I feel so sad about Linda being gone.... She is someone whom I admire so very much.... I went to London to see her photo exhibit there in Saville Row and I have most of her books and music. She is truly one of a kind and my sympathies go out to Paul and to her children and family. I'm so glad that there are so many wonderful pictures and videos of her, so we can remember her by simply going to the web. I also love her cookbooks, she was such a talented cook!!! We love you Linda.... your presence and your love is still felt in our hearts... you were an inspiration to many and so so lovely. http://i433.photobucket.com/albums/qq52/Happy_Traveller/Beatles/LindaMcCartneyMemorial.jpg

Lovetotravel, Thanks for the photo. Where is this statue situated?
-
Hi Linka, It is the Linda McCartney Memorial Garden in Campbeltown. The sculptor of the statue was Jane Robbins. It's beautiful isn't it? I love that Linda has the little lamb on her lap.

Rather belated reply but was thinking of Linda on 17th

Yes, she is a relative, if I remember correctly.

I remember when she passed, reading about it in People magazine: Paul's Lovely Linda (5-4-9 http://www.people.com/people/archive/article/0,,20125150,00.html Their story is a role model for what marriage should be: a loving, everlasting partnership and friendship. I rewatched "The Linda McCartney Story" on YouTube last night and saw that though their time together was cut short, they packed a lot of life and love into that time. RIP Lovely Linda; God bless you and your family.

She was strong and beautiful and loving, an inspiration to many people. I cry whenever I read Paul's last words to her, as well. On Tumblr many people were dedicating all their posts to Linda on the 17th. She is greatly missed.

I liked Linda as much as I liked Paul.

Sorry I am late to this thread, I had my brother Brian's anniversary of passing on April 17th and I was a total wreck. I've been playing a lot of Beatles lately on my iPod, because we used to call him "Beatlemania," as his nickname (having all grown up with the Beatles and his name began with a "B"). I love all the stories about Linda.. the story about how 'Yesterday' was written, and how she was a photographer, and my husband has encouraged me to express myself creatively and bought me a camera 3 years ago. I almost lost him to colon cancer in 2007 and thank goodness, it hadn't spread, and I can't imagine the pain of losing one's partner to cancer. My favorite song was "Cook of the House." I loved that song, and Linda inspired me to cook more. I started out making cookies with my older sister, Kathleen, and then attempted an apple pie when I was about 13. I didn't peel the apples (thought they would melt, lol), and then my grandmother Crowley shared a story with me: She'd made a pie for the menfolk, up at my Great-grandfather's farm in Aroostook County, Maine. Her name was Laura June Pratt, and she was the only child of my great-grandfather, William Fremont Pratt and his wife, Harriet Libby Smith. As a child, I remember going to the Libby-Pratt reunions up near Kingman, Maine, and the little old aunties sitting on a porch and pinching my cheeks, lol. Anyway, my grandmother Laura had painstakingly made an apple pie for the men to eat after lunch, when they came home to eat before returning to work. She'd forgotten to add the sugar. My great-grandfather William ate it and said, "Laura, that is the best pie I've ever tasted," and then he went back to work on his farm. Laura tasted it afterward and said it was so sour, she was mortified, much like I was when I forgot to peel my apples. And whenever I listened to that song, "Cook of the House," I wished I were like Linda, and now I'm 46 and a grandmother myself, and I am the cook of the house, LOL. When my son gets out of my kitchen. He makes the best cheesecake known to mankind and this morning, made me pancakes and waved them under my nose. "Eat, Ma," he said. Then he took off to Starbucks to sit with his computer and drink coffee. So you see, Linda spread her light all over the planet with that song, and she gave it to me, my family and my son and the rest of my family. And for that, I bless her soul from now until eternity. What an amazing woman, she truly was a Light on this Earth, and I feel she is still watching over us, just as I feel my brother Brian is out there, somewhere, guiding me. May her light continue to shine forevermore. Hugs, ~~Marie (Because everyone needs a hug!)

Marie: "Cook Of The House" is a cute little song Thanks for sharing it! Found a audio-0nly link to it on YouTube:
Linda seemed like quite a cool, chill lady; someone we should all strive to be like. I wish her veggie products were sold here in the U.S.; I'd definitely give them a try! I was thrilled today b/c the Twitter account for her products @MeatFreeTweets started following me Silly, I know, but it made my day. Anyway, she's inspired me to be more socially conscious by eating veggie when I have the option to do so. Maybe I'll become a full-out veg someday, but it will take some time. Hope everyone finds the pleasure of "simplicity" in their day today! -

And every time I listen to "My Love," my heart goes out to Paul for his loss. How much he loved her to write that song. So romantic. He is truly a good soul. As for veggie products, Amanadal85, well, I am not perfect. Nobody is, right? I have some house rules: no soda pop, but once in a while, I buy a Coke. Just because. But as a rule, we don't drink any soda here. My son buys his own drinks, PowerAde, and we argue back and forth over corn syrup. My husband and my son say corn syrup is good, however: I was a speaker at the Regina Polk Women in Labor Conference in 2005. I was speaking on pathology of the victim in domestic violence, along with a professor of women's studies from U. of Wis. Madison. That was all good and we did a wicked cool round table discussion afterward. Pheasant Run Resort in the Chicago Suburbs. Anyway, that's neither here nor there. What I sat through was a speech by a lady minister, who had fought at a big corn syrup plant in Southern Illinois, after someone had bought it and tried to put the screws to the workers. They fired some key people, and a man died in a fire because of it (corn fluff explodes). I saw the video, and I saw her speak, and I was both hurt and incensed at the same time. How can other human beings treat each other like that? Some Swedish company had bought the place and decided to step in and clamp down on the workers, who then went on strike. It was ugly. Very, very ugly. People lost their jobs, their homes, their lives, over corn syrup and the big guns coming in and telling them they could not have their way. I'm done with that. I am a writer and I say the pen is mightier than the sword. We have not yet begun to fight over here in America. Anyone who thinks they can tell us what to do, we citizens who pay taxes for our representatives, with very little representation, well, they can think again. Because I am here, and I am there, and I am everywhere. And I put molasses on my pancakes. Hugs, ~~Marie
