Remembering Linda

I will be thinking of Mary and Stella Wednesday. I lost my mom when she was 58. 12 years before Linda passed away. Am glad that her Dr. had the courage to let her get comfortably mystified in her dying days. I wish my mom could have.
Hard to believe it will be 21 years that she's been gone!
Sorry for your loss, SurSteven. My mother died of cancer too. No matter how much time has gone by we'll always miss them!

If that was the UK one then I was there. That was the occasion when (on film) his manager says 'I've found the tapes', Paul (back in the audience somewhere) shouted out 'Thank gawd for that'.

Cool!
That's so awesome you were at the UK premiere! Did you get to see Paul and Linda (and Ringo and Barbara?) on the red carpet, entering the theatre?

Thank you, Lady Leslie, am sorry for your loss as well. Time is the most powerful force in the Infinite Universe. What it takes away, it will return to us someday as well. All The Best To... Heather and Mary and Stella and James.

My main memory of the evening was seeing Joanna Lumley close up. . I did briefly see Paul and Linda inside the foyer but not Ringo and Barbara. I did see them though at the Take It Away video shoot a couple of years earlier.

Thanks, Kestrel! That's great you got to see Joanna Lumley. It's wonderful you got to be at the premiere, and also at the video shoot, where (from what you've posted before) you got a hi from Paul and Linda.

Being a UK member of the Wings Fun Club was quite useful at times.

Yes, sounds like it! You must have lots of good memories associated with the Fun Club.

25 years of good memories I think it must have been? It was a different world though. Then Paul / Wings news could be weeks old when received but now you have the info within seconds.

I know! I was a member of The Beatles Fan Club in the ‘60s and they would send out newsletters, photos and of course the Christmas records. Can you imagine if the Internet existed back then?! I think I’m glad I grew up in a much simpler time - I didn’t have a computer at home until 1997!

On April 17, 1998,, Paul McCartney’s first wife and one-time member of Wings, Linda Eastman McCartney, died at the age of 56 after a three-year-long battle with breast cancer.

Thinking of Linda even more since the 17th is the 21st anniversary of her passing. This is one of my favorite photos of them in the Fall of 1968.

Understand what you're both saying. I think the time before the internet was special because whenever you received that fan newsletter in the mail or a letter from someone you've been waiting to hear from, it was more eagerly anticipated. Nowdays we don't really look forward to much news anymore, or should I say, the way we look forward to something has changed. We just take it for granted that we can get updates whenever we google something!

Love that photo, and nice tribute you wrote, Nancy! That photo is one of my favorites too. The way she's leaning her head against his face, and the way he has his arms wrapped around her, is so very sweet. They had a one of a kind very special love story.
Thinking of Linda today too! She's been such an inspiration to me, to be the best I can be. I'm sure there isn't a day that goes by that her family doesn't think of her, and she'll always be watching over them and be with them in spirit.
I think this polaroid was taken by Paul, circa 1972.

"La la la la la lovely linda
With the lovely flowers in her hair
La la la la la lovely linda"(It's cute hearing her giggle at the end of the short diddy)
