New - Track-by-track thoughts

Surprised to see so many people on this site think this album is mediocre. This is the first time this century I've played and replayed any of his new albums. I can't of anything he's done since 'Flowers in the Dirt' that I've loved so much.

Anyone know what Paul's Alligator is?? Is it a euphemism for his polygon!! PS Also love On My Way To Work. Paul, why oh why is the girl from Chichester. She should have been from Salisbury!!
-
I can't stop playing this album over and over again Scared, Early Days, Turned Out and On My Way To Work are my favourites atm but all songs are fantastic!

I think like Flowers In The Dirt New dips a little towards the end, but the moody final track Road lifts it again. I think Turned Out and Scared should have been on the full album and Appreciate and Looking At Her binned. To make a real appraisal of NEW i'll need to live with it a few weeks yet.

Looking at Her and Appreciate are fantastic! Looking at Her is classic Macca but with McCartney II style backing!

I've just listened through the entire album for the first time. "Everybody Out There" is my favorite album cut thus far. "Early Days" almost had me in tears. The other ones that stuck out to me the first time through are "On My Way To Work" and "I Can Bet". Some of it reminds me of that "Off The Ground" album sound. I could hear OMWTW in that early '90s style with Paul and Hamish.

Early Days, so lovely. The lyric And Your Inspiration, Long May It Last. Wow! It makes you a bit weepy this one... ops:

The production on that song is superb, top marks to Ethan Johns and Giles Martin. I love how it starts of so sparse and they just gradually add in some backing in the second half. Spine tingling when the second vocal starts.

Rusty is mentioned as playing guitar on it but I'm not sure what Paul plays and what he plays. I know Paul was on guitar when he sang it.

The guitar is absolutely perfect for that song and sounds great! But is actually very basic playing, just pretty sounding chords. and the double track effect works well. I like that song.

I think the album is fantastic, "Album of the Year" for me easily and perhaps Paul's strongest since Flaming Pie!
Album of the Year. Yep.

His "alligator" is his anger and frustration!

I like it. It's a very "tight" album & it flows well. 'Pop art' is the best term I can use to describe it. Unlike many Macca albums, it sounds like it has no "fillers". For example, 'Flaming Pie' has about 3 filler songs that made the album feel too long. Here, all of the songs are in the 3-4 minute range which helps. It doesnt drag at all. I prefer 'Electric Arguments' because at this point in Macca's career, I'd rather hear experimental Paul not pop Paul.
-
STRUGGLE: - My God, another gem, at least to my ears, but it's bound to polarise opinion. McCartney II meets Electric Arguments. How can this 71 year old man who has done it all, still have a such a creative fire? Please God let him enjoy health and inspiration for many years to come.

Does anyone know if Starbucks will be selling this tomorrow? Best Buy? Been so long since I've bought a physical disc I am not sure who will have this!

I did think this but thought he might being extra cheeky.
