Times you've been disappointed in Paul?

Interesting thread...not hearing JET last night was a little disappointing.
Yeah, that's probably the ONE song, and maybe Venus and Mars/Rockshow, that I was bummed out I didn't hear last week.

^totally agree. However, something a lot of people don't realize is that it was George's fighting with JOHN (and Yoko) that led to him quitting the group halfway through Get Back. But yes, it's uncomfortable at times how overbearing Paul is toward the others in that film.
I don't think that what we were able to see was that bad! Give me a specific instance. George was the one who really couldn't stand Yoko, especially when she stole and ate his cookies (biscuits to the Brits) and according to one insider's book, yelled "You bitch!" at her!
The stuff between George and John is not in the film. It is, however, on bootleg. I have the complete Nagra reels bootleg set...all 96 hours of Get Back audio, it's EVERYTHING they did in January 1969. And there's lots of bickering between George and John. And John was all too happy to really push for EC to replace George after he quit, even though Paul and Ringo were against it.
Wow! I'd love to see/hear that!

It's audio and it's pretty brutal to listen to the whole month. Apart from the handful of times when they got their shit together and nailed the final (or close to final versions) of the songs, it's mainly aimless jamming and a lot of petty bitchiness. Sadly George's famous "see you 'round the clubs" parting shot when he quit was never caught on tape. I guess I'd say I was disappointed in ALL of them for that month!

I've got the Silent Sea Nagra tapes but I don't think I've actually ever listened to them. I guess I should go & dig them out.

Paul's pettiness on that lives on and will always be there. Now he does tributes to John and George in his concerts and there was just NO excuse, NONE, for him to miss that induction into the Rock HOF. business differences were noting in the scheme of things and he chose to stay away. A very low moment. Very low. Quite unforgettable and unforgivable. IMO
It would have been easy for Paul to turn up to a "fake reunion" as he put it, but i think he did the right thing keeping away from the false "everything is alright" camp it would have been the height of hypocrisy. I applaud him for not taking the easy option and bowing to what others wanted. To be honest who gives a s**t about the RNRHOF, they have their own agenda on who get's in and it's not straight.
Agreed that nonsense organisation is just that nonsense quite why so much stock is put in to it bemuses me,i resume that vast majority of it is by the media myself i dont need to be told wether a band is great or not but i have a fully functioning brain with it comes opinion and i use them to make my mind up i dont need a suit to tell me otherwise.

I am never disappointed with Paul, it's his life, he can do what he wants! He's a person like anyone else and I think he has really gone above and beyond in setting a great example on how to make an impact for the good in this world. It's influenced me all of my life. I'm really grateful that Paul shares so much of himself and I have a lot of respect for him and how he shows up and for how he represents himself. He is the coolest person that I can think of (period)

I just watched a youtube of Geaorge being interviewed awhile after the R&R HOF thing. He was honest & just said that he felt sorry for Paul because it was nice to have people pat you on the back for all that you had done & Paul was a biiig part of that. Crud...now I cant find the vid.

No...it was with maybe a MTV reporter?

Yoko was acting like the 5th Beatle in 1987 . I dont blame Paul for not showing up for a fake reunion.

Paul didn't show because of George's success, methinks. Just my gut feeling. Paul's career was pretty much at it's nadir and George's sudden unexpected (Number 1) success with Cloud Nine and the Wilburys must have made him physically sick. Just following Paul for all these years...I just get the feeling that annoyed him.
-
I remember 1988 very well, and George was definitely having a HELL of a year, commercially -- huge success. But I really don't think that influenced Paul's decision.

1987? She'd been acting like the 5th Beatle since fucking 1968! There's even an interview from the 70s where John said he was SHOCKED at how the other 3 rejected her when he started bringing her to the studio because, in HIS OWN WORDS, he thought they'd accept her as a member of the band (I'm paraphrasing...I'll try to dig out the quote).

Yeah, I doubt it. 1987-89 was a good time for George but it was really just a blip of success in an otherwise crap solo career. It was basically the first good thing he'd done in nearly 20 years (ie ATMP in 1970). Paul had been a worldbeater several times over apart from his decline in the mid to late 1980s. If he was that bothered by George's one little bit of success, then he's pettier than we all thought (and I don't think this is the case).

Then we disagree.

I thought it was funny that Ringo had to call out Paul Schaffer for playing a Paul-song, although McCartney wasn't there. He asked why didn't the house-band play "Octopus' Garden."
-
dissapointment huh well i bet alot of people were dissapointed when he wasnt coming to play at their cities on this tour or first leg or what ever

Yeah...remember all of those "why isn't Paul coming to [insert city here]" threads several months ago?

Maybe that's part of the background behind Tony Bramwell's statement that he thought John was either completely controlled by her or mentally ill.
