Times you've been disappointed in Paul?

Actually, the Paul vs George feud was over by the very late 80s. In fact, in 1989, Paul and Ringo both made statements that none of the surviving Beatles had any negative issues with each other anymore. They were closer then they had been in years. by the Anthology, George and Paul feuded in the studio again sure, but George tried to make up for his parts by letting them film at Friar Park
George's disdain was clear on his face.

And did George make a statement? I think they tolerated each other. That's about it. Although allegedly on his death bed, George told Paul, "None of it matters anymore" and they finally let all the nonsense go.

okay am sorry I should of kept what I've read to myself. I feel so embarrassed now. I think I take a break from this for a while. me in my big mouth. God I feel so stupid, I will keep what I read to myself for now on. sorry>>leaves thread>
Hey, Paul himself is quoted about this in Barry Miles' Many Years from Now. that's not private. it's one of my favorite Beatles subjects and oddly, I was not one of the offending participants here

Paul made a statment back in '89 saying how they were getting a bit closer then they had, all three of them.

Well that didn't hold long, because the 90s were not good for their relationship. I've read many accounts that it wasn't until 2000 or so, when George knew he was dying, that he finally made peace with Paul.

well, that's a shame. that you have to be on your death bed before you forgive your best friend. I honestly don't know what it was all about anyway. Maybe another boardie will have more insight. I get that Paul talked down to George when they were in the Beatles and maybe he was hard on him too... but what was going on in the mid-80s until 2000s for their relationship to be so strained? Why was George so angry with Paul all the time? Was it legal stuff? Was it more George than Paul? Cuz I have always read about George's dislike for Paul, but I don't remember Paul saying anything publically hurtful to George.

Watch the Anthology. George is MISERABLE in any of the scenes where he's with Paul, to the point of it being uncomfortable. Not only that, most comments he makes about Paul, whether they're in the same scene or not, are very backhanded and snide (although many are quite funny). A lot of it was resentment...George was basically flat broke and needed the money generated from Anthology, and he resented needing to tread on the Beatles name and needing Paul's help in order to do that. I love George but he was a complex and very strange person in many ways. He held on to grudges for YEARS.

Well, to be fair, George was only broke because of his old manager Dennis O'Brian ripping him off about 25 million or something

Amazing how many shady managers are out there! Just ask Billy Joel, Sting and even Steve-O. They've all had to sue their managers for millions.

There is one part where they're sitting on the blanket on the grass and Paul tries to ask George something and George completely ignores him and you can hear Paul say, "Well I guess not." So sad!! And then in the studio Paul was so upbeat and wanted to play some song and George is like "The short version."

You guys are ruining it for me. I didn't pick up on any tension at all. I do recall that moment when Paul said "I guess not," but I'm sure that George simply didn't hear Paul. Plus, it was during that same gathering when George seemingly had a genuine interest in what songs Paul had written, asking which songs Paul wrote while on their spiritual voyage to India.

I don't think George was ever in a good mood, when it came to The Beatles. I sometimes feel sad when I see Paul play "Something" & "Here Today" for John, and I think if things were different and they were on tour, would they be doing a song for Paul?? I'm pretty sure the answer would be no...Sad.

a couple things i am straining to find to be 'disappointed' with Sir Paul.. alright, i am 'disappointed' that he doesn't stick to the soul-vibesy version of 'things we said today' from the 1989-1990 touring period ('The Paul McCartney World Tour' the version which appeared on 'Tripping the Live Fantastic) also, 'disappointed' that he is doing the 1976 (WOA)/1987 ('all the best' promotion time) version of 'listen to what the man said' ending when doing it live in 2013 versus ending it like on the original album recording (the nice strings ending Bminor7 to Eminor7, Bminor7 to Esus4 to E to A - of course ending on the A without going into 'treat her gently') oh yeh, also 'disappointed' that he hasn't brought out the Rickenbacker live onstage since 1987

You both are right. while they were on the blanket, I picked up George was tense but do remember, that was filmed in Friar Park, George and Paul were having problems recording Now and Then and George let them film at Friar Park to make up for his bad part in the fiasco.
