The Art of McCartney- Tribute album
-
Beatles4Ever&Ever:
Just read an article about the Tribute Album....and which artists are on it...and their song selections. So looking forward to hearing Smokey Robinson sing "So Bad"....one of my all-time favorite McCartney ballads...his gorgeous solo ballad that compares to his Beatles' ballad...."Here, There and Everywhere"....for me. And Dion is singing "Drive My Car:. And Daltry is singing "Helter Skelter"....wants to make a Who version of the song that's louder than the one done by the Beatles....who were trying to make a song louder than any Who song..... "Who" gets the last word/laugh??
You can listen NOW...it's been here for days:
-
Whatever it takes to get Billy Joel in a studio again...

Whatever it takes to get Billy Joel in a studio again...
I like his contributions - he was always my second favorite singer/songwriter behind Paul McCartney...but I will also say that almost all the inspiration for that comes from all his albums up through Nylon Curtain (never gave his albums beyond that much of a listen, except for the live albums)

About half way through and I like the covers of Wanderlust, Bluebird, Venus & Mars/Rockshow, Let Me Roll It and Helter Skelter, to name a few. Absolutely hate Bob Dylan singing Things We Said Today, and that "hiccupping" version of Let It Be by Chrissie Hynde! WTF?

I don't get the style Chrissie Hynde employed either - I don't notice her/Pretender songs having that vocal style...but then again, I'm only familiar with their bigger hits and not really their other album stuff
-
That's one of her signature singing styles. She sang similarly when she was on that episode of Friends in the mid-'90s; she sang "Angel Of The Morning."

That's Chrissy's signature style...I really enjoyed it! Different strokes.... I'm going to spend tomorrow really listening to this, haven't had much time to listen this week

Ralph Sall, the producer of the album is on Chris Carter's "Breakfast with the Beatles" right now, and stated that "The Band" learned a few of the Wings songs just for the album.

Which one to get... the Target Version or the Best Buy Version?!
-
TRACK #19: P.S. I LOVE YOU performed by RONNIE SPECTOR The publishing credit is printed on the booklet as: (c) 1962 Sony/ATV Music Sony/ATV Music never owned that song. Not even Northern Songs Ltd. The song was originally published by Ardmore and Beechwood (now today, Beechwood Music). The song is (c) 1962 (and probably renewed) by MPL Communications Ltd.

Sorry to ask, but what's the difference between the two? If there's a bonus...anything...with either one, I'd go there for sure
-
There are supposed to be bonus songs...but I'm not sure who has what. Both stores will probably have an exclusive. :

So here's what I can figure out on the different versions of this. I've already ordered the super deluxe version, which Amazon has for around $200, but which I got through Amazon Canada for about $125, so I can't change my order now, but: Super Deluxe (actually called Exclusive Deluxe): 4 CDs + DVD + 4 LPs CD 1. 17 tracks CD 2. 17 tracks CD 3. 8 tracks CD 4. audio documentary (narrated by Bill Nighy; not the same as the video) DVD. video documentary 4 LPs contain the full 42 tracks plus book and other goodies Vinyl Deluxe Box: 4 LPs, as above plus book regular CD: 2 CDs CD 1. 17 tracks CD 2. 17 tracks CD/DVD version: 2 CDs above + DVD documentary regular vinyl LP: 3 LPs same 34 tracks as regular CD version MP3 download same 34 tracks as regular CD version Amazon Exclusive: 2 CDs CD 1. 17 tracks CD 2. 17 tracks + 2 of the tracks from deluxe CD 3: "C Moon" and "Put It There" Target Exclusive: 2 CDs CD 1. 17 tracks CD 2. 17 tracks + 2 of the tracks from deluxe CD 3: "All My Loving" and "Run Devil Run" Best Buy (?) can't see any difference so far, just the regular versions available elsewhere (Basically, you could get the Amazon and Target versions, and have all the songs from the super deluxe except four of them.) http://shop.theartofmccartney.com

These are the Bonus Tracks and this is what I was referring to. Seems like NEW with only so many Bonus Tracks for each version. Just trying to figure out which version to get? The bonus tracks weren't streamed, so going to wait until I can hear these versions of all the bonus songs, before I buy anything... Wondering if Can't Buy Me Love and P.S. I Love you are Bonus Tracks on all three versions Amazon, Best Buy, Target This is unclear?! 1. "C Moon" (Amazon exclusive) Robert Smith 2. "Can't Buy Me Love" Booker T. Jones 3. "P.S. I Love You" Ronnie Spector 4. "All My Loving" (Target exclusive) Darlene Love 5. "For No One" (Best Buy exclusive) Ian McCulloch 6. "Put It There" (Amazon exclusive) Peter, Bjorn and John 7. OK, now I've found the Best Buy version online, and you are correct, it has those two bonuses. I will update my post then. I looked at the websites for all of these retailers, and none of their track listings show "Can't Buy Me Love" or "P.S. I Love You," so those two tracks are only available on the super deluxe (Exclusive Deluxe) set. I looked at Walmart's site to see if they have an exclusive, but I couldn't find one listed there. Can't say for sure on that.

My gosh, why on earth have so many variations? I kind of understand the "standard" and "deluxe" marketing, but all of these?? Anyway, mine is at home, I will listen after work!

Seriously! If you're a completist, you'll be spending something like $500 to get all of this, with Paul's voice nowhere to be found.

I think I'll end up with the Best Buy version, given the info posted here (thanks a lot)
