NEW PAUL & NIRVANA SONG
-
Why this hasn't been promoted as a single is beyond belief, shame this could have been the last time Paul might have had another hit single in his own lifetime.
-
I'm glad Paul did this song. It may not be a Nirvana reunion but it proves Paul can still rock at 70. As for Courtney's Love's bitching that is all she does cry about everything. Paul gets accused of writing Silly Love Songs and when he tries to rck people complain. I say rock on Paul no matter what people think.
-
This single isn't really Paul's to promote--it's Dave Grohl's baby now as it's on Dave's documentary soundtrack, and Dave is, apparently, the main songwriter, as well. Hopefully it will become a promoted single once the soundtrack is properly released next February. I really think it could become a hit, so let's get on that, Dave!

I agree....the song itself is not so great, the lyrics, really? But I think I got caught up in the live version at the concert and can watch that over and over. Just the idea of Paul and Nirvana playing together.....did not pay much attention to the lyrics at the time...
I absolutely love this song!!!! Just purchased it on iTunes. It sounds great! Very heavy!!!! Paul sounds great; plays some awesome lead guitar. The vocals are just fine. I mean, "Helter Skelter" wasn't loved because of its lyrics...it was the overall sound that made it great! And that's what the new song with Nirvana is all about. The incredible sound! And Paul plays some great lead guitar!!!!!
I know I'm a broken record but it's not 'a song with Nirvana'. Its a song with the ex-Nirvana band members. but whatever Kurt was Nirvana, and he didn't play on it. And I'm talking Kurt could have had ANYONE playing with him when Nirvana was a band, as great as Dave was as a drummer. there were plenty of hard hitting drummers, Dave happened to be available. And Krist is an average bassist. the artistic input in the actual band Nirvana was like 90% Kurt. minimum. I know I ain't gonna change the freight train of misnomer in this case, so all I can do is chime back in every once in a while.
I stand corrected, I should have said Dave/Paul song...he is the only reason I liked Nirvana anyway....
Jenny LP just couldn't get enough of those drum parts ...
"ZING!"
So true......
Hey Jen, you like Travis Barker from Blink 182? man that guy can really play! he's incredible. so intricate and fast. Dave's more powerful perhaps, and obviously a better musician/writer, but Travis is perhaps my fav drummer out there.
Travis played here in Atlanta once with one hand! (his other arm was broken and in a cast!) My son as you know, kapoo, is a huge Blink 182 fan for years.

Krist's take on the new song and how it was born: http://loudwire.com/nirvana-krist-novoselic-recounts-story-behind-paul-mccartney-collaboration/ P.S. He likes Sirvana. " According to Novoselic in a separate blog post, although the project has been called many names, the bassist?s personal favorite seems to be ?Sirvana,? which offers a nod to the Beatle legend?s status as Sir Paul McCartney"

Why the track wasn't promoted at pm.com's homepage is beyond me.
I have to agree. It's a song that just begs for more exposure. I'm going out on a limb here but, the biggest headscratcher move by Paul for this entire decade.

well if He Ain't Heavy He's My Brother goes #1 this week (it seems it's close to the X-factor single), Paul would add yet another #1 to his list. As a member of big crew but it's a #1 anyway.

I had the same thought. Great for Paul to have another number 1. And "Cut Me Some Slack" is now also on the main-site to download, so promotion started.

It is promoted at Paul's facebook and twitter, those receive much more visitors than this website.

He's one of the most underrated drummers of all time IMO. and one of the best going. check him out on their latest album:
here's another one where he just shredd's really fast, and gets a little funky in parts.. guy's good. he's great on every song they've ever done. Blink 182 started off as sort of a jackass band, but they (especially Tom DeLonge) developed so much. Tom's one of the premier songwriting talents in rock today IMO. very unsung. He's led Blink, Box Car Racer and Angels & Airwaves. He's amazing. -

A bit behind the times ( : ), but hey, at least it's happening.

I find it a boring song Loud without subtley or substance - the opposite of Nirvana or Them Crooked Vultures. Let's hope the studio version (if there is one) has more to it.
For me, the song is pleasantly nestled above the 'trainwreck' status I was expecting, yet remains in that 'I hope this was a one time experiment' category Btw, what kind of 'shoebox' guitar was he playing during that performance?
-
I have to admit as much as I initially enjoyed it, I almost completely forgot it existed for the last week until I saw this thread. I think the novelty's quickly worn off for me.
-
Just heard it, long may this collaboration cease....very poor.

To be honest I never liked Nirvana and I don't like this song. In my view musically it's not up to Paul's normal standard. It's boring and uninteresting. However music is very personal and I'm sure a lot of Macca fans will like it.
