The Original Paul McCartney Picture Thread

Thanks for posting all these great photos, oobu24! Love the plaid jacket on him. As far as Golden Globes 2010, it's possible the scarf has some special significance, but could also be just decorated beautifully. It's a nice accent to his suit After a quick internet search, found out Paul gave the scarf he wore at the 2010 Golden Globes to actor William H. Macy: https://poisonivyjones.wordpress.com/page/2/ "Tweet of the Night January 25, 2010 Off to the SAG awards. The wife is presenting. I'm wearing a scarf Paul McCartney gave me at the Globes. I couldn't feel cooler. William H. Macy"

From PA Images https://www.paimages.co.uk/ McCartney - Kew Gardens - March 26, 2001 "Sir Paul McCartney launches a range of scarves inspired by some of the last photographs by his late wife Linda at Kew Gardens in west London. The scarves have been produced to aid and promote the Millennium seed bank which is part of the largest conservation project of it's kind in the world and utilises a vast underground vault which will house millions of seeds from the world's most endangered species" More images at https://www.diomedia.com/search/linda+mccartney+scarves.html and http://www.alamy.com/stock-photo-sir-paul-mccartney-kew-gardens-photocall-kew-gardens-richmond-london-125446890.html

The Macy scarf looks Japanese to me.

Thanks, oobu24! Thought they were really nice photos of him.. He modeled several different kinds of scarves, which were being sold for a good cause, and helped keep Linda's memory alive as well! If I ever saw any of the scarves on Ebay, would be nice to have one. Unfortunately there's more photos of this event at the links I posted, plus a lot of good ones at Getty Images as well, but those sites have disabled URLs for each photo, so they can't be posted here. Not sure when this photo was taken, but this looks like one of the Linda scarves he was modeling in 2001.

I love those two dresses of Nancy's on the previous page, especially the first one! She always looks stunning!

Paul is a dandy gentleman when it comes to fashion. )

Great pics from Kew Gardens. Hard to believe that was almost 16 years ago! I went to KG with my mom in 1980 on a rainy day and we were virtually the only people there!

Yes, she always looks beautiful, and takes good care of herself. She looks 10-15 years younger than 57!

I think so too! He looks great in '60s looking psychedelic clothes, and also in sporty casual... and when he's wearing a tux and bow tie... ok, I admit it, he looks great ALL the time, lol

That's wonderful you got to visit Kew. Too bad it was raining, but at least there weren't a lot of tourists there, and you had the place to yourselves!

. Loved both of those dresses on Nancy, that first one was a Stella dress, I remember looking it up, it is stunning on Nancy. Lots of "thud" worthy photos these past couple of pages...cool to see the scarf up close that went to William Macy... Always liked that one, especially. It's going to bug me until I figure out what those badges are... Just seeing the Linda ones for the first time too! Very beautiful!!! The psychedelic shirts are cool too. Flower Power!!!

Yes, that blue silk scarf with the emblems on it is interesting, I'm intrigued about it too! lol Would like to know it's story Will have to check Ebay to see if any of Linda's scarves will show up from time to time. Would be nice to check the giftshop at Kew also (if they have one online) and see if they're still available for purchase. My guess is that there was just a limited run of them to raise money for the seed foundation at Kew. I love Paul's psychedelic and flower power style, too, and his sense of fashion, even when he's just dressed casual! Not sure who made his jacket for filming of "I am the Walrus," but the photo below was taken when it was on display at Pretty Green, Ltd. in London in 2013. Love the colors and pattern on the fabric... and the detail of the blue buttons... and from far away you wouldn't know that there's two different kinds of fabric that were used in making it. Looks like there was some hand sewn quilt work on it also, which was very detailed. Whoever designed it did a fantastic job

This is the type of jacket, with so much attention to detail, that I've seen at top craft shows I've been to. It is like wearing a piece of art. Down to the little waves reminiscent of the Great Wave off Kanagawa. Are there other photos? Would love to see the photos of Linda's that inspired the scarves...

You're welcome, love2travel There's not many detailed and up-close photos of the jacket, so thought it was interesting someone had taken one, when it was on exhibit. There's no costumer listed on Magical Mystery Tour credits at the Internet Movie Database (IMDb), so it would be interesting to find out who designed it. It's possible (but not proven) that the Beatles' jackets in Magical Mystery Tour were designed by "The Fool" fashion house (Dutch artists Simon (Seemon) Posthuma and Marijke Koger),... they also did the costumes for the "All You Need is Love" telecast the Beatles did. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Fool_(design_collective). "The Fool" were also part of The Beatles retail store venture Apple Boutique that only lasted from December 1967-July 1968. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apple_Boutique Haven't been able to find too many other photos, other than the ones we've seen before. But this is a good one
Would love to see the photos of Linda's that inspired the scarves...
Me too! There was probably more information on each box that the scarves were in. Would be nice to be able to find one on Ebay, in it's original box, to find out

On March 11, 1997 (21 years ago today) Paul became Sir Paul after being knighted by Queen Elizabeth II at Buckingham Palace. His daughters and son attended the event, but sadly wife Linda was unable to be there due to failing health. She died a year and 1 month later.

Linda did not attend, not because of her health. They were only allowed 4 tickets and she wanted their 4 children to be there, so she stayed home. That same month Stella was appointed creative director of Chloe and she was well enough to attend a show in Paris with Paul.

Thanks for clarifying that, Nancy! I read in several books and online articles that she decided not to go because of her health, but what you wrote makes better sense... she'd want her children to be there. If she went, and they only had 4 tickets, one of her children wouldn't have been able to attend, and it would have been difficult to choose.

^ What the heck chord is he playing there? I've been trying to figure it out. E flat m?

I got my info from an interview Paul gave later.
