See, he had that little bald area even back then, it's just gotten a bit larger!
Aww, poor little guy, was probably very sensitive about that at the time, even though it's not so bad most men have it a lot worse!
What bald area?
NancyR was referring to: The little space at the crown of his head is only about as big as a baby's button though, and don't think Paul had much to worry about. it's just a natural parting of the hair... kind of like the base of a luxurious waterfall, lol

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/music/artists/paul-mccartney-unseen-pictures-eighties-touring-band-rehearsals/ Unseen pictures of Paul McCartney and his Eighties touring band in rehearsals - exclusive
In 1989, Paul McCartney shot two videos for the song This One, taken from the album Flowers in the Dirt. The first, directed by Tim Pope, was filmed at the Albert Wharf Studio in Battersea, London. Often referred to as the "Eastern" promo, the video featured scenes with meditation as well as Paul, Linda, the band and Indian dancers. Photographer Eugene Adebari was on set to capture still photographs on the day. The second video was directed by 'light painting' photographer Dean Chamberlain and was filmed in a rehearsal barn in the South-East of England in July. The song reached number 18 on the UK singles chart. These never-seen-before photos were captured at tour rehearsals and from the video shoot for the song This One. They will be released as part of the reissue of McCartney's Grammy award-winning Flowers in the Dirt on 24 March.
Oobu24 already posted one photo from this article earlier today, but here's a few more:

It used to be called a colic but it has grown as he has aged. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v41/CorporateA/more/1964_Bald_Spot.jpg
You mean cowlick. Colic is something babies get (upset stomach from drinking milk) I had to change my son to Prosobee which is soy-based formula because he had colic so bad. But a cowlick is when a piece of your hair sticks up at the crown, like Dagwood Bumstead (kind of) love2travel, Paul just has a place where when his hair is parted at the crown, there is a small bald spot (no hair) even when he was young. See it in that pic where he's looking in the mirror?

I'm not familiar with him either but he's been around onstage when Paul has done some award things in England.

The Jam were very popular group here in the UK during that late 70's / early 80's. Paul Weller was also Mary McCartney's b/f for a while. I think the two Paul's first met when they were both working at Air Studios, London in early 1982 although they may have met earlier.

Am I remembering correctly about seeing him onstage with Paul maybe something to do with the Queen's anniversary?

It may have been the Teenage Cancer Trust concert? PW mentions it here:

Hey! Thanks for that interview. He also mentioned War Child & I saw him in that video too. And yes here is the Teenage Cancer Trust.

Paul Weller is extremely popular over in the UK. A friend of mine, who is a huge fan, couldn't believe he is so unknown over here. I like his music.
