[quote="WixRocks Yeah, so I mean, it has a date, but it has some info that makes the source sound a bit sketchy I think this show is a definate, Billy Sloan, who wrote the article, is very reliable, and is a well respected music journalist here in Scotland (Farewell tour statement aside). We will see, but I have a good feeling about this gig going ahead.

I think this show is a definate, Billy Sloan, who wrote the article, is very reliable, and is a well respected music journalist here in Scotland (Farewell tour statement aside). We will see, but I have a good feeling about this gig going ahead. Oh, well then maybe there is a better chance. I don't know, I mean the article does sound extremly sure of itself. But if this guy knows about it through Paul sort of, then why doesn't Paul just announce it now, we all know about it now!!!

Since it's supposed to be a "top secret concert," then there's no use for that anymore...

According to Daily Record Paul playing Hampden on June 20th - so exciting if true. officvial announcement soon Sir Paul McCartney set to play Glasgow gig for first time in 20 years Feb 28 2010 Exclusive by Billy Sloan and Mike Merritt, Sunday Mail BEATLES legend Paul McCartney is heading back to Glasgow for the first time in 20 years. We can exclusively reveal the superstar will play a massive gig in the city this summer. Top-secret details won't be unveiled for another 48 hours but Sir Paul will headline Hampden Park on June 20. Macca, 67, plans to end his 50 -year live career with a huge farewell tour performing in venues where he has not previously appeared - and our national stadium is No.1 on his hit list. His spectacular show comes two decades - almost to the day - after he last played here. On June 23, 1990, the singer rocked the SECC as part of Glasgow's celebrations as European City of Culture. Originally, the show was to be staged at the adjacent Queen's Dock but was switched to the indoor venue. A McCartney insider said: "Paul has always loved playing in Glasgow since his early days with The Beatles. He has a great affection for Scotland and his home in Mull of Kintyre in particular. "He went to High Park Farm when the group split and spent many happy times there with his late wife Linda and their children. The Hampden show will spark off many emotions and memories for him. "There have been a few missed opportunities over the years but Paul is thrilled Hampden is the venue. He loves Scotland and wants to play there again. It will be one of his greatest gigs ever." His Hampden show is long overdue. In 2003, McCartney disappointed Scottish fans when a gig planned for Celtic Park - part of his Back To The World tour - was shelved. McCartney kicks off his latest tour with gigs in America, including two shows at the Hollywood Bowl in California on March 30 and 31, a venue for concerts by The Beatles in 1964 and 1965. Macca's farewell tour will last right up to his 70th birthday. Since 1990, he's clocked up 800,000 miles gigging, playing in more than 22 countries. He still holds the world record as a solo act for performing in front of the largest paying audience, rocking 184,000 at the Maracana Stadium in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the same year. He will thrill fans at Hampden with a new stage show which features classic Beatles hits such as Drive My Car, A Day In The Life, Hey Jude and Get Back. McCartney first played Scotland when The Beatles backed singer Johnny Gentle on a tour in the early '60s. The Fab Four toured extensively north of the Border and he also played several gigs with Wings, including memorable dates at the Glasgow Apollo. Full details of his Hampden Park gig will be announced within days.

I'll be in line for tickets for Hampden. One thing though. How do we get into the 'fan-club presale'? Paul doesn't have a fan club anymore. Will this be a code (eg PMFAN) emailed out like the one publicising the Pheonix/LA shows last week? Chris

Wooo hooo, I am so there

didn't he already say he wasn't doing big tours anymore. It doesn't fit with his life now. He's going to do places and shows that interest him. That's what he did last year, and it seems he is doing that this year. As for size, the Hollywood bowl is on the small side, 5000, not a pub but not an arena either. As for medical exams, I don't remember reading Paul saying that, but doesn't every artist have to take exams for insurance purposes. and if you see some acts, they aren't exactly following doctors orders. He's going to do a handful of shows this year, like he did last year.
Er, the Hollywood Bowl has a seating capacity of 17376 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hollywood_Bowl

National Express coaches - book on-line. www.nationalexpress.com They often offer "Fun" tickets - so long as you are certain of getting the actual coach listed at the time listed these can be well under £10.... Martin
