Afraid not - the SECC is in Glasgow near the riverside. Not brilliant acoustically, but realistically the most likely venue he would play I would have thought.
Is SECC indoors? I really liked Hampden. I prefer an outdoor summer concert.
yes, its indoors.

Loved Glasgow! The locals were friendly, the food was good and the weather was fantastic ! Well worth the 5 hour journey from Manchester. Completely surreal going to Liverpool last week and seeing Macca in such a small venue compared to Hampden ... plus it was only a 45 minute drive down the East Lancs!

The weather was beautiful that day. I think if he were to do Edinburgh the castle would be brilliant. I think that would be better than Murrayfield

How many people can the castle area hold?

Cavern dweller, what in the world??!! That" Moonwalk"(?) ordeal you mentioned is quite a mystery. One wonders what all you went through to require a massive amount of "glucose" but then only 30 minutes slumber and you were good to go to travel hours to hear Paul and band again!! You made me recall, I wondered if I was going to drop dead in the middle eastern like heat of July in the Carolinas in the states on the way back from seeing Macca, the bus driver left me waiting outside the bus in the sweltering heat in Columbia, S.C. and I'd just trudged some distance up and down hills downtown carrying a heavy load of bags, and had been out of my blood sugar medicine all that weekend. I thought, "Well at least if I perish, it's after seeing his concert, not before!" I saw a child faint waiting outside the Time Warner Arena in Charlotte. It was so bloody hot. In more ways than one--knowing Paul freaking McCartney was inside preparing to perform for us! (LOL)

rumour is T in the Park

rumour is T in the Park
Which would be cool. But I rather see him doing a stand-alone gig again
-
I'd be quite disappointed if he did T in the Park - it's got a reputation for being a bit, well, 'neddy' ops: There was a rumoured line up that was doing the rounds for next years festival, and it had Foo Fighters and Blink 182 on it amongst others, although I think that has since been shown to be a bit pie in the sky. Would be great to see him back in Scotland, but I'd much rather he did something other than T in the Park.
-
T In The Park has it's own web-site: Rather than scratch around sniffing out rumour why not register for official up-dates?: http://www.tinthepark.com/content/default.asp?page=s8_5 Blink 182 and Foo Fighters are the only confirmed acts to date - and their names were dropped to boost early bird ticket sales which occurred back on December 3rd As I posted in no words last thread talking up Paul for this event now Paul has shown a penchant for festivals his name is at the top of every promoters hit list and many are beating on his door. Which events - if any - will catch his eye is another matter... Festivals are always a lottery with most events selling out their events long before the major artists are announced, fans attend for the established craic of the event and put their trust in the promoters being able to fill the stages with the latest and best artists. It's a brave fan that will buy a full weekend pass to a major festival in the random hope that their particular favorite will show up. Martin

Is T In The Park like Glastonbury (or Lowlands here in Holland), a festival that sells out even before the headliner is announced? I'm not gonna buy a ticket now and gamble if Paul is coming. If he's not gonna do a stand-alone gig in Scotland or Ireland then I might go see him somewhere else. Never been to southern Europe, that would be a good combination, trip and gig.
-
Yes, they do an advance sale immediately after the last festival closes. I know people who used to go routinely year after year as it is a weekend away for them that they just put in their diaries every year rather than going to see any band in particular. A few friends have switched to going to Rockness instead of TITP as they prefer the atmosphere at the Loch Ness Festival. I'm sure we'll hear on here sooner than through the T in the Park website if Paul was going to be playing. Official announcement is meant to be in February, although having looked back over the previous line-ups, I can't actually see a single band I would have made the journey to see!

Without doubt...That would be an awesome venue but Im not sure how much the castle esplanade holds? There was that estate outside Edinburgh that hold's 10,000 that's doing gig's as of next year aswell. If he's going to come back to Scotland then I hope that it's not T in the Park.
-
Edinburgh Castle was the venue that I had thought of - took my Mum to see Rod Stewart there this year and it poured down, the screens failed, yet the evening later, all worked wonderfully by all accounts! Our show was a bit of a disaster, but I'm afraid that's the weather for you. When it works, it's a brilliant venue holding around 8K-9K seated. I think Hopetoun House is the other venue who have been trying to arrange concerts, and they have a promoter working to attracting guests there.
-
Its very unlikely he will do Murrayfield next year. They already have the two gigs and I'd be surprised if more is added. Hampden also has a number of gigs already booked. As for T in the Park I dont think thats gonna happen, it would be nice coz T for me I been going down hill of late, it has turned into a more alcohol obsessed party, and that sounds stupid to say considering its an alcoholic drink that sponsers it The castle would be the perfect setting because its more picturesque I think. More one off and unusual Another worthwhile look would be for him doing The Edge Festival (formerly T on the Fringe) Ah back in the day when they still used Meadowbank as a venue We've not had any big names at that for a wee while have we. P.s have a great Hogmanay tonight folks.....thats another gig possibility too, next year??? Take care tonight and a good new year to you all
-
Meadowbank would sure suit me as it's a neat wee walk for me. Yeah, bring on Meadowbank!
-
Paul was to play Celtic Park in 2003, this was cancelled, so maybe????
-
well the lastest rumour I have heard for T in the Park is The Arctic Monkeys...so that would mean no Paul Hopetoun House this year will start some gigs there which would be awesome, thats only like a half hour cycle for me- They still havent announced any gigs yet The castle still hasnt announced gigs for the summer yet, so that could be a possibility He needs to come back here, that was the best night ever. I still cant believe I've not met many of the Scottish fans, coz when I'm walking around normally I feel like the only one

I would hope he would stay away from festivals this year and just do some uk gigs. Hopetoun House would be a great venue, what is it 10000? And then the castle would be my own perfect venue to see Macca play. Mull of Kintyre at the Castle! Most Scottish people are probably too drunk to hold much of a conversation!

I just want him to do a decent European tour. With Ireland/Scotland included (not going to see him in London again) and of course Holland.
