McCartney doesn't think his audience doesn't like his Wings/solo music, he hears the cheers when he performs songs like 1985 Junior's Farm Hi Hi Hi Jet Band On the Run Let em In Live and Let Die My Love Listen To What The Man Said and many others from his post Beatles material, especially when he tours in other countries, they are very receptive to those songs! I do believe that McCartney thinks if he digs too deep he may lose the audience. I don't even believe this is true, I think the crowds would be thrilled!

The songs you mention were all either hit singles or, in the case of 1985, a memorable track from a monster album. Much as I wish it weren't so, I don't think he'd get anywhere near the same reaction for Wanderlust or That Was Me or Friends to Go, much as I would love to hear him play all of those.

C'mon guys I only listed a few songs, of course he's done more than that! Bruce M, you left out the part where I said and many others from his post Beatles material, and are you kidding, when McCartney performed That Was Me in Paris, the crowd absolutely loved it! I'm not just going by what I think, I'm looking at actual evidence, Youtube has many videos of McCartney performing many of these songs and as I said, the crowds are loving it! Also read the comments on Youtube from people all over the world about McCartney's Wings/solo material, pick just about any song, on about everyone of them the question is asked why he doesn't perform them. Once again this is from people all over the world! The opinion is usually always different from what I read on forums like this. How about McCartney tours with these songs and let's find out, I don't think that's too much to ask. Could it be that only America, has this negative opinion about McCartney performing more of his Wings/solo material, because the reception I see this music receives in other countries is very positive!

Just some video clips of solo songs and the audience reaction is always pretty good to me and nobody appears to be running to bathroom. That Was Me

Only Mama Knows House of Wax Hope of Deliverance Lonely Road Another DayI think it is more that he has been feeding the audience Beatles songs for so long...many of them now just want to see a Beatle. But that can still be done with the show representing his entire career more fairly...for everyone to enjoy.

I think the McCartney pre-show should be youtube clips of these songs on the big screen, that way some of us would actually hear them at his concerts - LOL !!!

Only Mama Knows House of Wax Hope of Deliverance Lonely Road Another DayYou've pretty skillfully selected atypical performances: A small venue (Paris), a place that gets to see Paul very rarely (Moscow), and a place where a song that's barely known in the U.S. is very popular. U.S. audiences in the stadium shows he does now (which is all I really know well enough to have an intelligent opinion about) come looking for Beatles and a smattering of big Wings hits.

Hands across the world for Paul singing these songs and more of his post Beatles songs!! He does do some interesting things for the pre show. Many times I've noticed people don't even know they are listening to Paul... thinking specifically about Twin Freaks and Rushes for two different shows I was at. The people around me who did know... well we were sooooooooooo very happy and high on it!! The secret deep tracks of Paul club :reckon:
-
Nobodies talking about something like Twin Freaks and Rushes, that's totally obscure way way way out there material. I'm talking about songs that McCartney himself has featured in his setlist, Wings songs that are and were proven in front of crowds, the good songs, not some deep totally unheard of obscure track. Big Barn Bed The Mess Smile Away Getting Closer I've Had Enough These are songs that McCartney has performed in front of crowds, and the crowds loved them, he could still do the same! There's always some reason why McCartney can't perform this material, the venue was small, the people haven't seen McCartney, or the song is only popular in that country, it goes on and on, totally ridiculous! McCartney could and should perform more of his Wings/solo material!

Yo... the point I was trying to make is that Paul does play his own music at shows, and it may be, as you say, the way way way out there material, but he does play some of his material. It was so cool to hear it You are right, there is always some reason that could be made up why he doesn't play his Wings/solo songs, ones that were very popular and now not played at all!! There are lots of them!! Yes he should play them, the people that loved them are still in his audience!! Yes, he should play more of of his Wings/solo material and especially NEW because it's a great album and in my and others opinion, it's just mad that it hasn't been sold at the merch tables!! I can't tell you how many artists CD's I've bought, not knowing anything about that particular album, but liking the show. Got home and loved the CD!! Hope you get Twin Freaks, and Rushes albums, go home and have a cool one and have a listen... they're like a fine vintage wine, or great jazz originals by those jazz greats... you can really savor them... an acquired taste, and then BAM it hits you!! You are hooked!

I agree, it was very cool to hear the Rushes and Twin Freaks music at those shows! But I do remember looking around at the pre-show when they were playing Twin Freaks, and I could see that some people were annoyed by it. "Rushes" went over better because of the people in the crazy costumes, which in a way was a precursor to the Beatles LOVE show in Vegas, come to think of it. I suppose if Paul could come up with something visually stunning for "Take It Away" or "Big Barn Bed" or "I've Had Enough" then maybe he could pull off those tracks live.
-
I remember the people were very anxious to see Paul in Las Vegas... didn't realize they were listening to him I really did enjoy that intro... I didn't realize that about the LOVE show...yeah, I can totally see that now, didn't put that together, that's pretty cool... went to the show out there and it was great!!

I "LOVE"d it too. It exceeded my expectations. So now what about "NEW" in the charts? Any chance left?

If you get the DVD for LOVE and listen to it in Surround Sound, sit right in the middle, it sounds awesome!!!! There are so many layers, sounds! Were you under the cloth or above it? I was under it, but heard there is another experience above it! Tres Cool! Paul needs to start playing more songs from NEW on the tour, or at least sell the CD at the shows! How else will people hear it? Do you think that could happen?

I had to be skillful (lol) because Mr. McCartney did not do songs like "That Was Me" and "House of Wax" in the USA. Might have been nice to see him do them and what the reaction would have been to the songs. As for "Hope of Deliverance", I know he did it when I saw him in Charlotte (1993) and it got a nice reaction but could not find youtube clip. The clip for "Another Day" was from the 1993 Charlotte show,

I had such hope when I heard he did Hope of Deliverance in South America, so sad it did not come to the US. I would have flown to San Francisco if that was in the setlist, however, that's a long flight for no NEW songs House of Wax is awesome, don't know at all why that would be a skip? And who can get into Amoeba records!! Not so many... wish that had been done in NYC as well!

FavoriteThing, I don't think McCartney has to come up with some stunning visual effect to perform I've Had Enough, Take It Away or Big Barn Bed. But wouldn't it be totally cool if he walked out on stage with his Rickenbacher bass, and then a giant Wings emblem lit up behind him and the band and they launched into a nice hard rocking set of those and other songs from his Wings/solo material! I think the crowds would be absolutely thrilled!
