This video was my 3-month old granddaughter's initiation to Paul McCartney. She was mesmerized and stared intently at the iPad. When it was over she let out a happy cry! ️
awn! It's so cute. She's on the right road to Beatlemania. This is the next generation, congrats!
Today I was playing the free Spotify Christmas song list for her, which of course includes Wonderful Christmastime and Happy Xmas (War Is Over) She is more visual still and was more intent on grabbing her mobile stuff hanging down than listening to Paul & John! She will be the 4th generation fan - my mom even saw Paul with me in 1976 when she was 45 and I was 21!

No, my mom and I have followed Paul since the Beatles in late Dec. 1963 when I was 8 and she was 33! Never got to see the Beatles in person. When I was 11 in 1966 I begged her to take me to Cleveland Stadium to see them. "We'll go next year" was her reply! Well of course they never toured again and I've never let her live it down and she's now 90!
P.S. She saw Paul with me in 1990 and 1993 as well.

Interesting video came up on YouTube yesterday...Paul singing a rather comedic version of "I'm So Tired" from the White album sessions. Words about drinking too much and in good fun. Different hearing him handling the vocals rather than John. Sorry, not good at links but McCartney I'm So Tired should do.

Here's the link to Paul's version of "I'm So Tired". Thanks so much for sharing, John!

Thank you, Joyce, for Thinking of Linking (pardon the pun) and providing a link.

The song was from the White album of course but the performance is from the 'Let It Be / Get Back' rehearsals and was recorded on Friday 3rd January 1969, their second day at Twickenham.

Just came across this through a FB post. Had forgotten all about it!

Thanks for posting this link to "In Liverpool", Nancy! Did it come from a Bonus feature on the DVD Liverpool Oratorio, where Paul sang this in LIPA's auditorium?

I'll have to check my CD tomorrow. It's downstairs and I don't want to wake up my mom going down the squeaky stairs!

^ He also played it in concert in Liverpool in 2008.

Interesting! Thanks, oobu. I read that it was arranged with accordian and acoustic guitar for that concert.
Here it is at 42:18
Apparently this song is not well-known at all.
(A thank you to Nancy for bringing it to our attention.)
I looked up some information. Paul read its lyrics as a poem in an event for his book "Blackbird Singing" at the NYC 92nd St Y in June 2001
Also, according to the book "Paul McCartney Recording Sessions 1969-2013, ", a version of the song "In Liverpool" was recorded in 1992 for Off the Ground but never released.
That book also states that Paul's performance of the song in the Liverpool Institute auditorium, when the building was still closed, took place in summer of 1988 and is included at the end of the dvd Liverpool Oratorio "Ghosts of the Past" documentary.

Every time I hear the high repeating 2 notes riff in M.I.A's Paper Planes, it reminds of the similar sound in Band on the Run. So in a spare bit of early lockdown time I put the following together. A bit rough around the edges but it's the best I can do:

Fabulous! I love UncleA/AdmiralH as a track in particular, great to hear Paul's own re-arrangement.

Maybe post this in the section "What's that you're doing". It may get more views there.
