So we have the kisses album which is following the trend of other old school artist such as Rod Stwaert and the like. So do you think Paul might consider a country style album like Lional Richie or Bon Jovi have done in recent years. Paul still has the voice for it and he has dabbled in that type of music in the past

So you think Paul should stop his current work on his reggae album then? Martin

He most certainly should stop working on that album. And he should delete all reggae flavored songs from his back catalogue. Preferably by going round and singlehandedly delete them from peoples harddrives, take all vinyl and cds and publicly burn them. And then he should start re-making all his remaining songs in trad-jazz-fusion-crossover-new-age style. Country album: I don't mind him doing a couple of country songs, but I don't think I would fancy a complete album with all country songs on it. It's just not what he's all about.....at least not in my head.

Oh dear LORD... no!!! We've had enough of Paul going off into another genre. We are overdue for what Paul is all about... a rock album! Long overdue. It's what he is best at. It'd be too frustrating to have to endure a few years more promotion for a country album. I want to go to a Paul concert and hear a generous handful of new ROCK songs.

I can forgive Paul just about anything, but if he does country next, I walk. Fact.

As much as I like "Your Way" (a Driving Rain track), I would see a full album of country tunes as a sell-out. Country is usually the last stop on the train-ride of commercial success for pop/rock acts who can't move units anymore. -Lionel Richie -Marie Osmond -Darius Rucker And so on.

Ah... not so keen on the country idea... I'd be least likely to buy that, out of anything that Paul does...It's kind of limited here in the states, to certain areas of the country... it's not very big where I live.

I read an article earlier this year about how radio will not even consider adding genuine country songs, as well as country songs that address serious subjects, to playlists. There are country tracks that are utterly laughable; they almost sound like parodies -- but they aren't. I realized the genre was in trouble about twelve years ago when "That's Not My Truck" was a hit single. And it's worse today: We now have "She Was Rockin' The Beer Gut," "Redneck Yacht Club" and other insults to the genre's forefathers.

Good country's on life support, the only reason it's alive is because George Jones is still here.

Sorry to get technical on you Kapoo, but it's not the most popular genre in the US, although if you are from the South or Midwest, it may seem that way... A chart from 2011 show's it's below Rock, R & B and Alternative, but it's above Metal and Rap... http://www.statista.com/statistics/188910/us-music-album-sales-by-genre-2010/ So if you don't like country and you are driving through some state like Kansas... you need to bring along lot's of CD's with you... It's a long state to drive across and listen to country music

Country dominates only in terms of physical units sold (CDs) -- because its core audience considers Wal-Mart a premier music-resource... ...AND can't figure out how to download.
