i have always wondered how Wings ended up selling more records than the Beatles now I have a clue
don't the beatles hold the record for like most records sold altogether?

All these recollections are making me very sad that I missed out on the Fun Club. I wish Paul would consider setting up a real fan club again. Many years ago, and I don't know what mailing list I was on, I received a postcard in the mail promoting one of Paul's classical albums. I still have that postcard, and I know I would enjoy getting more Paul- or Beatles-related promo postcards in the mail! I'm serious. Anyway, someone earlier was asking for details like prices for the club. This is what I found online: Club Sandwich 4 iss/year, £10 England/Europe; $20 US USA, South America and Canada; £12 all other countries. First time subscribers please add 75c, 30p or one IRC This is the official Paul McCartney fan club - used to be called "Wings Fun Club" in former times. Note: US residents can simply send a personal check in US currency

Yes, the Fun Club was very special. Something you have to remember is that the Fun Club began in a time long before the Internet, e-mail, cell phones, and news/information about Paul was not instantly available the way it is now. Those mailings from the club were so precious to fans all over the world. There was also some merchandising - t-shirts, badges, even some press kits if I recall. (A very different time, I'm afraid. I honestly don't know if they could do it these days. The scale of things now seems so much bigger.)

^ You and other posters have a very good point about the Internet and technology. Information and news get spread so quickly these days that receiving a paper newsletter would seem antiquated and slow. But still...it'd be nice to be part of an official fan club to show our support and also get member-exclusive news and discounts. The Internet is fantastic, but reading things online is not the same as getting more tangible items which will later become treasured souvenirs.

I'll never forget the day I rec'd a phone call from the Fun Club saying I was getting FREE tix to see Paul perform at the Lyceum! And yes, there wasn't any internet or cell phones back then!

I haven't worked on my Beatles scrapbooks in ages. One of these days... Oh well, at least the photo albums are all current.
