WINGS FUN CLUB - recollections?
-
Sue was always great when it came to helping out Fun Club Members. Iwonder where she is now & if she still works for Paul in any capacity.
-
I wonder how she is too. She was awesome-I miss the excellent Concert seating, The exclusive stuff we had..the magazine was awesome-all Paul and Linda .Just think , we knew him before he was "SIR" lol. I bout the songbooks, and alot of Tshirts and Linda's Photography Book from the funclub. Never quite understood jut WHY we had toPay to be in it-hahaha.considering that Paul had a buck or 2.but that's okay. I think after he became sir Paul, the postage changed to Royal mail.Oh how I miss Par Avion. I was married and living in a little po-dunk town in Kansas when I was in it. Although we understand sadly why it is gone..we will always miss it.

The neat little badges & things....my Flaming Pie wallet

Oh yeah ! You are right,Gypsy! I still have all of the Shirts I got,my fave I think is my Only Love Remains T-shirt. And I have The Song books, including The Give My regards to Broadstreet one, with the Script in it. And Linda's Photographs.Great stuff from the Funclub! We were SUPPOSED to get rid of our membership Cards each year when we got a new one. That never happened at MY House lol.
-
Nor mine, I've got a collection of Membership cards Love the Broadstreet book too

RossingtonRules:
the postage changed to Royal mail.Oh how I miss Par Avion.
The mailing would have always been Royal Mail as until very recently the service had a UK monopoly. However every piece of air mail has a second sticker added at the post office counter identifying it from surface mail as air mail: Par Avion being French for "by air". It was strange convention using French in this manner as UK - US air mail would not have entered any French speaking territory but it was the term used. Martin
-
Par avion. That is cool Martin.
-
"Par Avion being French for "by air". I so knew that Martin lol
-
I saved everything - envelopes & all

Wow... such great links, stories and memories! Linda was certainly keen to keep Paul's fans happy. I do think it was her baby... It's so very very cool to hear the stories of those days. I was just discovering the BEatles when Paul was with Wings, so I was always about 10 years behind! I wish I had been born 10 years earlier.... : I'd be retiring about NOW! And I'd have seen The Beatles LIVE!!!! Does anyone here have the first issue? What was in it?

Here's a piccie of lucky Ferdinand, sadly without Paul.
ops: ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh~
-
Cute photo! I miss the little notes here & there and getting the special offers for Fun Club merchadise. I still have my satin Wings Fun Club Jacket.
-
Just going through some old Macca Archives and came across many old Club Sandwiches. Brings back a lot of memories...such a shame that it was brought to a halt. Anyone missing them like I am?
-
Oh my god.. I am sitting in awe of this fan club. Free merchandise? Priority seating? Membership cards? Rare and high quality photos?!?! WHY was I not aware of this? oh I know, because I'm cursed with the wrath of being born in '92 ! my generation sucks. Great stories though! I feel like I'll make these my next collecting mission.

Absolutely, being born in 86 and only being a member since 95, I only had 2 years worth but I certainly wish to obtain many many more.

I hate reading posts like this.......they make me feel very ancient.

My main memory is not being given the chance to see Paul do the UP Close special in NY. I lived in northwestern NJ at the time and was told I was too far away to be able to make the show, when in reality I was within 45 minutes of NYC. I did get a nice note from Sue apologizing though, but of course it was too late by then. And if I remember correctly it snowed that day and a lot of people didn't make it. If I knew then what I know now, I should have gone to NY and most likely would easily have made it in.

That was on the back page of CS #7: February / March 1978. You've remembered well although it was Juniors Farm and not Letting Go that was the rocker !!
