WINGS FUN CLUB - recollections?
-
The start of it all.......the very first newsletter issued by the fun club which was initially called the Paul McCartney and Wing fan club. The first issue comprised ot two A4 typed sheets stapled together. They didn't have enough info then to fill the fourth side which was left blank. This and the following photos have been reduced by 75% so hopefully they'll be ok to keep on this thread?
-
The horizontal photo of the two membership cards was distorting this page so i'll delete it for now and will take a vertical piccie another time.
-
.....and here are some of the badges issued by the Fun Club. (I had wanted to include a photo of all my fun club material and hundreds of press clippings but unfortunately it stretched the width of this page too much !! )

i would imagine they would still be fans after being so close to everything.
Its a pity that they've never been interviewed,....they'd probably have a lot of very interesting memories about the early days of the fun club and wings.
indeed they would, someone somewhere must know something about them. you've got a lot of great memories there, most of which have brought back my own memories of the Wings fun club days The earliest things i can find the now is postcards and a free wings fun club lyric book for Speed of Sound, I have other things stored away but not as much as you've got in those pics.

Kestrel Is the happy cartoon guy on the badge from one of the mini postcards from the Suzy and the Red Stripes box ?

You've got me there. I don't have the Suzy and the Red Stripes box so i'm afraid I'm not familiar with its contents. Btw, the 'happy cartoon guy' badge was known as the 'fat man' badge, which is rather politically incorrect these days. I think your description is better.

Do you have the pink McCartney lyric booklet which was issued in 1974 (late 73)? Thats quite a good booklet as it features lyrics from the early albums plus singles.

Not got the pink booklet, your wardrobes must be bulging at the seams I think back from time to time and wish i had kept my 70's posters, I still have a few but many more were thrown out

^ Everything is stored in a couple of very old suitcases, which are on the top shelf of a self-built walk-in wardrobe. I nearly did myself a mischief getting that case down yesterday. ops: I think i've lost a few posters too over the years, especially the ones that had been put up on the walls.

Mine were all confiscated by my mom when I was 17. I wonder what she did with them.

I wonder if the premium members will be sent something every quarter, if memory serve me right, that's what happened with the fun club?????
I wasn't under the impression we'd be sent anything except the box we got when we signed up and a reminder to pay our bill next year.

Yes, what did she do with them and why did she confiscate them in the first place?

drugs. I think that's why my mom & sister used to turn the lights on & off & check my pupils. Trippy. I think I had a I am TheWalrus poster up on my wall. They say if you remember too much...you weren;t really there. Or what was it?
-
one time I had a dream I was in the Wings Fun Club. nah I really didn't, I have exactly no experience with it. sounds fun. a little clubby. but whatever.

Did oobu just confess to taking drugs btw? or did I read that wrong?
