Worst McCartney album?
-
Tough question, since McCartney always has something going on in his LPs. Going on which recordings caught my ear the least and I don't listen to? Give My Regards to Broadstreet Driving Rain Chaos New This does not mean these are "bad" or "horrible" just they left little or no impression on me.

I've only heard New a few times, so it's my least favorite so far. Maybe in a few years after Improved comes out and it's old it won't be.

Hailey, you need to listen to it some more! It is his best album since Flaming Pie!
-
Tough choice. I would have to say "Back to the Egg"

Wild Life, by far. There are others I don't listen to because I couldn't get into them (like Chaos), but Wild Life stands out for me as bad.

That says a lot. When I first bought Flaming Pie I listened to it over & over again. With New, I played it, loaded it onto my computer, and moved on. I think part of it is how I listen to music now compared to how I used to. The last Paul album I played on a stereo rather than computer was Flaming Pie.

So you don't have the CD NEW to listen in your car? It's a great album to drive and listen to!

Digital music is ruining The experience. It just doesnt translate well.

Agreed. I'll add that the romance of buying an album and taking it home to enjoy the artist's creation is all but gone.

Jeepers. If he played BTTE songs, I'd be straight to the airport!!!

No it's not. It's not even within shouting distance of MAF or Chaos. It's half of a pretty good album and half of a pretty boring one. And yes, that's just my take and your mileage may vary.

With exception of the lead single "New" (a masterpiece which deserved to be a hit single) and perhaps 2 or 3 other songs, the album is very mediocre. A surprising lack of great classic Paul melodies overall...much of the album sounds uninspired and half-baked. No great rocker on it and no great ballads. Early Days has some nice chords and melodic touches, but the super shaky frail vocal ruins it for me - I know Paul is getting older, but can't believe he can't sing it better than that. :

"Wings At The Speed Of Sound"! It sold well because Paul was coming back to America the first time since the Beatles and the country was all excited; but the album was just not good. The low point was definitely Linda's "Cook Of The House". The whole album lacked focus and seemed to have been thrown together in about five hours. Having each member of the band sing a song didn't work either...."Hey, we're a band"!! The song that could have made a rock statement...."Beware My Love" just never got going. The live version indicates just what a great rock song it was. The studio version was a pale imitation because it was or seemed rushed. "Let 'Em In" was just plain dumb. Having purchased the remastered version, I realized just how underwhelming the whole thing was. Didn't realize it when it was first issued, 'cause I was all caught up in having Paul back! (But even then Linda's "song" was just cringe inducing.)

We agree to totally disagree!

Despite my love for both Memory Almost Full and Electric Arguments, I can somewhat agree that NEW may be McCartney's best album since Flaming Pie. Chaos... has a lot of honesty; it's got some of the best songs he's ever written -- but its overall dark tone puts me to sleep.

I have the CD. I bought it in Tokyo, which is a great place to buy CDs. But I don't have a car.

Well, that does present a problem then!

I should buy a car just to listen to CDs. But then where would I park?
