Worst McCartney album?

Confession to my fellow members here. I like all his albums.
What's your less favorite?
All of them IMHO are fantastic. And I don't have any particular favourite.
-
I'd say a tie between Driving Rain and Pipes of Peace. Never really cracked Driving Rain, and Pipes of Peace (for the most part) feels like a bunch of leftovers (possibly as it is).
-
Gotta be "Driving Rain" for me too - can't listen to more than 3 songs, just awful! And...sorry...have yet to become a convert to "Ram" but know I am in the minority...

Years ago Paul hinted in an interview that his worst album was "Back To The Egg". I think he was right and it hasn't got any better over the years. :

Really? I like it.

Memory Almost Full. Hands down.

I can play MAF from beginning-to-end and love every track.

I get the joke, Squid. Temporary Secretary is a dream song of mine for Paul to play at a concert.

Memory Almost Full. Hands down.
Hi Shawn. Agreed. It's so bad it's offensive. Almost every song is Biker Like An Icon wrapped inside The Girl Is Mine wrapped inside Freedom.

Glad someone did.

I?ll say the weakest album overall is Pipes of Peace. Just not much there in terms of impact for me. This is excluding Broadstreet, since it?s a soundtrack. Otherwise I?d say Broadstreet is the ?worst?. Thinking about it more, I could see McCartney 2 being given that rating due to its lack of tunefulness, but I feel that album. I personally dig it, just like Wild Life and the first McCartney. I feel those albums and like the spirit of them, and they have some really great stuff on them. Pipes has a very lightweight feel. The weakest Wings album for me is Speed of Sound. That one?s really just 3 songs in my book; Let Em In, Silly Love Songs and Beware My Love, and I?ve never been a big fan of Let Em In. I think Paul should have given it to his boy Ringo, like I?ve heard was originally intended. And he could have kept Pure Gold, that?s a cool song. everything she brings me is? what do I know.. they all have merit. Pipes has a few nice moments.

I'd say Mccartney II by a mile.
-
Pipes Of Peace is my least favourite of his main albums, McCartney II is probably his most marmite album. (You either love it or hate it.)
-
For me that must be 'Off The Ground' Very poor songwriting (both for the music and the lyrics), soulless performances, and bland production. No redeeming factors, it seems For the record, I think McCartney II is bold and fun. And Pipes Of Peace is a forgotten gem (you just have to accept that eighties production approach, which has a lot more dimensions and angles than the 21st century loudness-block)
-
Pipes of peace and Off the ground are the 'worst'. Still, every Macca LP contains at least one brilliant song, this holds also for the above.
-
i agree 'memory almost full ' is close. however 'mccartneyII' is a mess.'pipes of peace' is lame . however all three have at least 2/3/4 very good tracks indeed. the worst? pound for pound and considering he released it in his pomp wings at the speed of sound is a huge dissapointment to this day

MEMORY ALMOST FULL isn't a favourite of mine either, but I don't see how an album with "Only Mama Knows," "You Tell Me," "See Your Sunshine" and "Mr. Bellamy" can be considered "bad."

I can understand critics sniping about the film, but the music in BROAD STREET is wonderful! "No More Lonely Nights" is classic Macca, and how many rock 'n' rollers out there could have written "Eleanor's Dream?" "So Bad" is far superior to its earlier incarnation on PIPES OF PEACE, and "Not Such a Bad Boy" is a terrific garage band rocker. Topping it all off is the gorgeous "Goodnight Lonely Princess," which again shows off Macca's remarkable versatility as a composer. Carp about the movie all you want, but the soundtrack is first-rate.

I dunno. It's kind of hard to hear those songs for all the noise going on. I do know however that See Your Sunshine is a contender for worst ever song by a Beatle. In fact, Yoko's 'Mummy's only looking for her Hand in the Snow' is a masterpiece by comparison.
