Went there for my annual exam and the doctor's assistant handed me a card with random letters on the left side of the plastic card and asked me to read the smallest line that I could fathom. In the middle of the card were various patterns of black and white lines, including the nine grouped together that have become familiar to us fans since last week's "New" was debuted. I asked her about these and she muttered something about those being useful in some tests. I imagine they are used for tests given to those who are either illiterate or whose vision is so degraded that can no longer make out letters of the alphabet. Anyway, it would seem that Macca had an eye exam recently and hit on these lines as being useful for his own "New" purpose. Perhaps someone else has noted this already but since there is so much on that thread that I haven't had time to read, thought I would bring this to the attention of my fellow fans. Here's to healthy eyes!!

Glad U brought that up. I remembered it from all my crazy eye exams the past few years...since I 'lost' some of my eyesight in 2008 but it was magickally restored in 2012 I am all too familiar with those charts. Happy your eyesight is doing well! On my part I was thinking that the word "NEW" could also be "KNEW?" It came to me the other day... Paul sure has us all guessing and thinking alot lately

Glad your eyese are better! I had cataract surgery a few years back, a bit unusual for someone not quite sixty but today got a clean bill of health.

That sort of looks like that portion of the card except those are inverted Es. The eye test itself got a little old with the interesting card followed by letters of the alphabet of diminishing size projected on the wall. I kept hoping that New would be played for me but the good old test ended without "New" music. Maybe a hearing tests would have included that?

If you find a doctor that will play "New" for us, please tell me where it is so I might go. I find that by the time the test is almost over, I have memorized the last few letters and have to tell them, as if I did not I would be cheating, and not get a accurate doctor's report. p.s.>Great one Podgie!
