Fans over 50?

I would think we are the first generation Beatles/Paul fans. We have been there since February 9, 1964.

This thread is about to slip off to the next pg....can't have that, the newbies won't know to look for it!! BTW....who (people over 50) remembers "mod" fashions? I had a dress...don't remember the designer but it had a smocked front w/ a rolled white collar, I loved that dress and back then girls weren't allowed to wear anything but dresses or skirts to school!! OHHH those were the days!!
-
I just remember the wonderful emphasis on British fashions that I loved sewing, all of those great looks - is that what you mean by "MOD?" You know, "England swings like a pendulum do, Bobbies on bicycles, two by two, Westminster Abbey, the tower of Big Ben, the rosy red cheeks of the little children.." http://www.google.com/images?hl=en&source=imghp&biw=1020&bih=563&q=60s+british+fashions&btnG=Search+Images&gbv=2&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai=

Remember the "Hard Days Night" Woman interviewing Ringo: Are you a MOD or a ROCKER? Ringo: I'm a MOCKER...

Great Link PPP Thanks!!! I remember that song too!!! It popped in my head when I went to Westminster Abbey... I guess the bobbies are not on bicycles anymore tho... they have the CCTV cameras instead... For those of you who liked the 60's music... Just saw Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings... so reminiscent of the 60's and funkier than Tina Turner.... Her legs work it even more than Tina.... she was doing the Mashed Potato on stage...

Mary Quant was her name. the designer made the"Maryann Faithfull" style and look. girls just had to get the latest look, the "British Look" the fans saw these on American Television. when Maryanne was on Ed Sullivan show. and in 16 Magazine as well! they would profile every Teen Hearthrob, and what they were wearing. I was wearing those fashions, as I was Modeling for Patricia Stevens agency, at the time! what A wonderful time it was! it really was!

SO COOL!!! Were you Twiggy-skinny?? Did you use eye make-up and shadow to make your eyes look really large?? I know we learned those "fashion" tricks, at that time!!

lol yes I was Twiggy Skinny!!! they told my mum not to worry about me being soo skinny. I was a toothpick. lol! if I gained even half pd, they would fire me. and I could not get paid anym0re.they were very strict! and yes, we used all the Girly curly eye lashers, and fabulous foundations too. mostly it was Pancake makeup, is what they called it then. it was the Theatrical makeup foundation I stuck with for many yrs. I was coordinated from head to toe! cut into a lot of my growing up teenage yrs tho. so I changed careers, went into the Music field. the photo below their, the Lady was wearing what we called a ""Shift" with "MaryJane" shoes.
-
Yes, I remember; I sewed them, but I liked to add "puffed" or "cap" sleeves, and I remember the mary janes, (and the "shifts" were VERY short, of course, and we tried to sneak them into school, didn't we!!!!)
-
then we also tried getting away with wearing "Mini Skirts" to school! remember that one? didn't go over to well with the Principles!
-
do ya remember how we unzipped the zipper on the mini-skirt, to pull them down when admin. was around, and had longer tops to cover the zipper part????!!!!!. It was really hard, though, when we sat down!!!!
-
Remember granny skirts.... skipping school to run off with your friends.... and there was no HIV in the world... 3 minute songs.... headbands and striped bellbottoms
-
OMG i loved the bell-bottom era...who made creative ones like Cher used to wear????
-
-
patpatpatti:
I'd love to see you in that outfit
