My sister and I were talking about the Beatles back when the other day. She reminded me of the BEATLES contest one of the radio stations was having in the Chicago area. It was what school could write the word BEATLES the most and my brothers school won, Mannheim School in Franklin Park, IL. I'm sure all those hundreds of pages my sisters and our friends wrote, helped them win. lol Also my sister was saying about how her girlfriend of sayinf, " You know John was doing *IT* to Cynthia." And my sister was shocked that John would do such a thing. Oh how niave we all were back then.

Remember when they rated the records on American Bandstand? "It's easy to dance to.." I think Please Please Me got a bad rating. Or an average one. I'm looking for a YouTube clip of it. this one's good...
Lindafan, Loved this clip... Polio shots, hoola hoops, duck and cover (a sure way to save yourself from an atomic bomb :lolLoved the clothes in the dancing videos, the first space craft? liftoff Twiggy, Selma Alabama and the lads... that was a good find... going to pass that one on! Thanks!

Living in Po-Dunk-Town has a real disadvantage, I'm just to far away from ...everything I don't get to go to all the fun events

Just got this uTube and it reminded me of the dances.... we were talking about that, in this thread earlier.... the white go-go boots were a must... And the record player at the beginning.... I had one similar to that... This is a clip from Gilligan's Island, the TV show... of course Ginger the Movie Star is doing a pretty fine job of it...

I 've loved Paul since 1963. I was 9 then & I am now 56 so that makes 47 years. There was a programme in the UK called Ready Steady Go on every Friday evening. I saw Paul & that was it. Love at first sight.

I was shocked to find this...
I guess you know where I was on that date in 1964...sitting at home crying 'cause I couldn't go!!!! -
Never got to see the Beatles live either. They didn't come anywhere close to where I grew up and people didn't travel the way they do now.

Even though I'm 51 and saw the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan Show in 1964 I'm probably a 2nd generation Beatles fan because I first bought Let It Be in 1971 or so. I immediately bought the other Beatles albums from Rubber Soul onwards and also the solo projects by John and Paul up through Wings at the Speed of Sound and Milk and Honey. I remained loyal to John even after he died on my birthday in 1980, but lost interest in Paul until much later when he released Flaming Pie. Now I am quite impressed with Paul's recent body of work and was thrilled to see him in concert twice in 2005 and 2009. I would love to hear more Wings material, but would prefer to hear more recent material and obscure Beatles tracks.

I first started this thread hoping to bring all us "Moldy Oldies" together and share our stories of the good ol' days. But I don't have anything to share as far as seeing The Beatles 'cause I was still too young, I was just 13 when they first came to the US so I missed out-- Now I'm probably one of the oldest ones here... : : I can remember the garage bands and dances they just to have...good times and some bad. I am so sorry that you share a sad day on your b-day, LapisLee. I have a better b-day...I was born on Paul's b-day in 1951. I have made a couple of youtube vids for his b-day, if you want to find them...@youtube/liverpoolbride. Nothing great, just having some fun!
