Getting Closer and Sirius Radio

B J Conlee:
I love Sirius Radio. Being a product of the 60's and 70's I love some of their music channels with no commercials. Some of my favorites are channel 6 (the 60's) , channel 7 (the 70's) and channel 32 (the Bridge -- softer rock acts from the 60's and 70's). Anyway, I have noticed over the last few weeks that Channel 7 (the 70's) have been playing Paul's "Getting Closer" as part of their regular rotation. I have probably heard "Getting Closer" 5 or 6 times now in this time span. And that is just times when I have been in my car and that is always random. I must say that Getting Closer sounds really good on the radio. Hopefully, the same channel might start playing some other Macca songs (non big hits) in the future. I could certainly give them some suggestions. Wondered if anyone else has heard Getting Closer on Sirius recently. Finally, I would love if Paul had his own Sirius channel like Springsteen, Sinatra etc.
That great to hear. Plus, if you have heard it 5-6 times maybe they have received positive feedback about playing the song.

Wish he'd play "Getting Closer" live at least once. It's such a great power pop song.

Hi, Like you, we LOVE Sirius Radio!
If it were not for Andre Gardner, we would no longer be listening outside of SiriusXM. I cannot confirm a specific channel as my children are often changing the channels, but yes, we have recently heard "Getting Closer," and it was just played this morning!
During the last month or so, we have been hearing much more Paul than usual, some of which we were quite surprised to hear. In no specific order, we have recently heard the following: "Getting Closer" "Mamunia" "Maybe I'm Amazed" "Listen to What the Man Said" "Let Me Roll It" "Junior's Farm" "Jet" "Band on the Run" "Goodnight Tonight" "Hi, Hi, Hi" "Live and Let Die" "My Love" "Silly Love Songs" "Arrow Through Me" "Bluebird" "Helen Wheels" "Let 'Em In" "No More Lonely Nights" "With a Little Luck" "Venus and Mars/Rock Show" "Go Now" "Medicine Jar" As to Paul having his own Sirius channel, we would most definitely LOVE for this to happen!!!
Are you aware that Paul has in the past had two temporary Sirius channels? If unaware, one was Paul's "Fireman" channel, running 14th February - 13th March 2009, complete with "Fireside Chats."
The other was Paul's "Band on the Run" channel which ran from 29th November - 26th December 2010. Paul's legendary Apollo Theater performance on the 13th of December was broadcast live via his channel and various other Sirius channels. We could not stop listening and were so disappointed when these channels expired.
The ones I've heard are Maybe I'm Amazed, Listen to What the Man Said, Let Me Roll It, Junior's Farm, Jet, Band on the Run, Goodnight Tonight, Hi Hi Hi, Live and Let Die, Silly Love Songs, Let 'Em In, With A Little Luck, Venus and Mars/Rockshow, and Helen Wheels. Lots and lots of Helen Wheels lately. I've also heard Eat At Home a number of times on Sirius. Also, Nineteen Hundred and Eighty-Five has had it's fair share of play. Which station do you find has the most Paul? -Rubber Soul13

Something strange is going on with SiriusXM. They seem to be playing the U2 song "Song for Someone" on every station. They have been playing it on Alt Nation. U2 is not an Alt Nation band. I even heard them play it on 80's on 8. They never ever play new music on 80's on 8. Is payola legal on satellite radio?

"Eat at Home?"
We have not yet heard this one on Sirius, looking forward to it!
We have heard "Nineteen Hundred and Eighty Five." As to which station airs the most Paul, it is difficult for me to calculate as my children are quintessential teenagers, constantly changing the channels. For Paul, The Beatles, and classic rock, we vacillate between '60s on 6, '70s on 7, '80s on 8, Classic Rewind, Classic Vinyl and Deep Tracks. Were you able to catch "New" whilst aired on Sirius?

I think it's because Sirius has been having some kind of chats (I think they called them "Townhall Discussions") with U2 recently on the Spectrum station. I also heard Song for Someone on 80s on 8, but they mentioned that they were playing the song in honor of having the band on the air with them.

I listen to all the stations you mentioned - they're among my favorites. Another great one is The Bridge, which is Channel 32 the last time I checked - they're mellow rock from the 70s and I've heard lots of Paul/late Beatles on there (but they really seem to like Elton John
). It might have been switched to the teens in the last week or two, but I'm not sure. -Rubber Soul13

^ Had to laugh when I read your post about The Bridge liking Elton John as whenever we wish to listen to an Elton John song we switch to The Bridge.
As of late, they have lightened up a bit on his songs. We hear "Amie" by Pure Prairie League quite a bit on The Bridge, and one of our favorites, "Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey." We have also heard "Song for Someone" on '80s on 8 and on The Pulse as one of their "pulsating" new songs of the week. As far as we are concerned, Sirius may broadcast Paul and U2 as much as they want on any channel they like!

It seems like every time I turn on The Bridge Elton John is on! And not saying that's a bad thing.
And I didn't catch NEW on Sirius. Which channel played it? -Rubber Soul13

audi:
Do they play any of Macca's newer stuff?
probably not on the "70's" channel. and, i know i'm late to this one but, why the hell wouldn't he have his own channel? i don'y pay for radio because i like to b the one who decides what i hear but seriously, why not his own channel? also, @kevin , U2 used to be alternative rock. so i'm laying odds that is why they are on alt nation or whatever it is called. they, U2, also jammed that new album of theirs into everyone's iPod wo why wouldn't they be able to jam at least one tune into everything else? =P

I thought computers replaced radios.

Elton John songs, never a bad thing!
"New" on Sirius, not sure if aired on multiple channels, but we first heard it on The Spectrum. Back in September 2013, I bought a new car. As one does, we turned on the radio to check out the sound system in the new car. The first song heard in progress on one of the preset SiriusXM channels (The Spectrum) was "New." What are the chances of that happening?
We were delightfully surprised!

And I neglected to include some Paul songs from 80s on 8... The Girl Is Mine Say Say Say (they use a portion of the song during some of their station announcements) Ebony and Ivory Spies Like Us -Rubber Soul13

^ Have not yet heard any of the above on Sirius, looking forward to hearing them!

BBC Radio 2 have started playing the song 'London Town'

Just heard Smile Away on Sirius Deep Tracks the other day! -Rubber Soul13
