I also just received an email from the Trainline.com telling me that the train employees are planning a strike on May 25, 26. I was training it from Manchester to Liddypool--NOW what?
You can get a coach or bus from Manchester to Liverpool, takes less than an hour. Google it - there are several companies where you can book online. Good luck!
Thanks Sheryl--I just got a "coach" ticket--it cost much less than the train. Now, to try to get a refund on the train ticket. It looks like all of the trains and buses leave from "The Station" at the Manchester airport, correct? I'm hoping that it is not too far from Terminal 3 to the bus!

Careful with posting tickets with barcode visible. It gets misused often.

You go from terminal 3 through terminal 1 to the station. It really isn't very far. Just look for the signs to the station. Have a safe trip

I'm on the event travel for london, and had the same wording about cameras in the soundcheck, so i emailed them to say how everyone uses cameras at soundcheck - it was even encouraged at the event travel one i did in 2011, plus everyone will have a camera on them for the gig so they can't not bring it in to soundcheck. So they wrote back and said small compacts will be ok. So why they used the scary language in the letter with tickets i don't know.. My advice is email them pointing out compacts have always been allowed in soundchecks, just not SLR/bridge cameras, and they will prob email back saying compacts are allowed - so print out that email and bring it with you to prove they said it's ok

So to reiterate - yes it's ok to take photos in the soundcheck and go in with a camera - as long as it is not a pro type like and SLR or a bridge camera, a small camera ie a compact is ok. That's what they told me and i've printed it out and plan to take the camera like in 2011! As much as it's great being in the soundcheck, if you can't take a few snaps for your debt ridden huge ticket spend then ahem what's the point heh Email them and just point out that compact cameras have been allowed in sounchecks across the world, you just need to read fan sites to see that. And that on the last UK tour event travel allowed compact cameras and encouraged people to take pictures once inside! (Just NOT movies, ever, that WILL get you kicked out) The wording in their letter scared the shit out of me, which is why i emailed, and they checked up and wrote back that compacts are fine. So take one Everyone!

Oh so they did arrive in a few days time? That's good! I live in Australia so maybe it's different. They told me the tickets most likely wouldn't arrive on time that's why they suggested having them sent to the hotel. I just hope they don't get misplaced as they will arrive at the hotel before I do!
Sorry didn't realize you were in Australia. Yes probably different delivery time. Definitely safer to send them to your hotel. and anyone traveling to the UK for the shows from elsewhere - you may not have heard but there's to be a 24-hr rail strike starting on the evening of Mon. 25 May til Tues. 26th May - so that may change your travel plans if you were planning to take the train to Liverpool on those days...
What's this about a rail strike? I'm travelling on the train from London to Liverpool on the 26th!

It was announced last week and runs from 5:00pm on Monday 25th May to 5:00pm on Tuesday 26th May http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-32748029 This is the Network rail page that might be useful next week, but it's best to contact the station you're travelling from well in advance as there may be a limited running service available: http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/service_disruptions/97695.aspx

Hello everyone. It's been a long time since I last posted on these forums. Best news of the year for me! I'm coming up on the 27th, so luckily I miss the train strike and the Cunard event that is supposedly going to cause a bit of chaos in Liverpool. I'm staying at the Premier Inn in Albert Dock. Is anyone else? This will be the one and only time I'm going to do VIP, so I'll be going to the soundcheck. Is anyone else doing the soundcheck? Also.... I've never been to Liverpool before so I might get lost!!

If you're using virgin trains on monday or tuesday you're buggered http://www.virgintrains.co.uk/ i'm so angry - the strike is meant to be 5pm monday to 5pm tuesday, but noooo virgin have pulled all of their trains for all day monday and tuesday on the west coast mainline (ie london to manc, london to liverpool, london to birmingham, etc etc). there's still time for the strike to be cancelled, but i'm not holding my breath..
