Just seen a TV advert for comparethemarket.com or comparethemeerkat.com whatever it is, with a spoof on ebony and ivory. Really can't believe that Paul or MPL would licence these idiots to use one of his songs. Or would it be Stevie Wonder able to licence it? Whatever it is it stinks, anyone know how/why this has been allowed?

Here's the classic SNL E&I skit from 1982 - Eddie Murphy & Joe Piscapo (in their primes) as Frank Sinatra & stevie Wonder. They nailed it:

OT. This is my favorite Beatles SNL skit. The Beatles Auction from 1984. They bid over $100k for McCartney's toothbrush but no one bids for Ringo. http://www.nbc.com/saturday-night-live/video/cold-opening---ringo-starr/n9295/

Paul has a sense of humour and he`s probably a fan of Mitchell and Webb.

Parody comes under 'fair use' and you don't have to pay the composer of the song. (At least that's what I'm told)

there was a sequel to that one where a couple who bought Ringo and keeps trying to sell him but he's always running away back to them. a representative from a Beatles museum wants to buy him from them

It may stink but the song is lame & stinks as well.

It doesn't stink, it's cute. I'll bet Paul got a smile out of it. And as someone else noted, as parody it might fall under "fair use" doctrine -- at least in the U.S., not sure about how British law handles such things.

Ironically, Paul has written 1 of the best ("Blackbird") & 1 of the worst (E&I) songs regrading racial harmony.

Fantastic song... I remember when it came out... it was fresh and brilliant (and it remains so for me)... good melody ala Frank Sinatra and good message and universal... well produced and with the incredible collaboration of Stevie Wonder...
