On the heels of Macca's successful collab with Kanye West and Rihanna, I think radio would've responded to "Hope For The Future" had the Thrash Mix been the actual single. I've uploaded it to my YouTube channel using my vinyl copy of the Hope For The Future LP single.

I Agree!! It would have sold more than the rather slow original... this is a lot more 'relevant' and people my age (20) I've played it too have gone 'wow thats Paul McCartney? When did he get cool!?'

Paul - 27th May 2015, Barclaycard Arena OUT THERE
Paul- 19th December 2011- MEN Manchester ON THE RUN
        Abbey Road, Studio 2 - 24th March 2012
Ringo- 20th June 2011, Symphony Hall Birmingham
Played at the Cavern - 21st October 2011

I prefer the original, but if the thrash mix was genuine thrash it could have been amazing. As it is, it just sounds like simulated guitar.

Another thing I would've changed -- if I ruled the world -- was for McCartney's set at the 2013 iHeartRadio fest to have either opened or closed with that Bloody Beetroots version of "Outta' Sight." Those fests are about new music and raising the bar. Opening with with "Magical Mystery Tour" is NOT raising the bar... ...but I digress.

Yeah, I agree, too. I much prefer the Thrash mix. I think the edgier, Euro-pop anthemic setting suits it a lot better. I think it's a bit too polished and manufactured sounding, but in the right direction for my tastes. More cool, more modern and commercial, and it's edge gives a good context to balance the hippy-dippy lyrics. I think Paul's voice sounds good and strong, but I feel like it needed some sort of filtering or something to give the sonics of his voice a feel more in sync with the musical backing. I'm a big fan of what Youth did for The Fireman, and I would've been very curious if he had worked on this song with this type of a musical approach. Also, I think it was a smart move to edit out the "chorus" of the song, which I felt was one of the weaker parts melodically. Otherwise a strong composition in my books!

You should produce Macca. Keen ear, you've got there.

Sounds like the lead single off his new Electric Arguments II album!

Too bad the Thrash Mix wasn't included on the upcoming Pure McCartney. It would've been a great vehicle for a radio-single to promote the compilation.

When the single was released, a British radio show featured a short interview with Paul and they also played "an exclusive mix" of the song - which was the Thrash Mix. It sounded fantastic - and I also thought that this version should have been the actual single.
