Worst line from a McCartney song

I've listened to God-knows how many hours of Paul McCartney in my lifetime. There's only one cringe-inducing line: "I'll be feeling blue" -- from 2001's "Your Loving Flame"
Anything he wrote for HM is cringe-inducing to me!
I don't know - except for the whispered 'Heather' line, I like the song 'Heather'...and my reasoning for not liking the whispered line is not related to what I may or may not think of Heather...It just doesn't come off very well...

Yeah, but he didn't write Heather for Heather Mills, did he? Wasn't it for his daughter Heather?

Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.

Speaking of that song, I still have a memory of a live version. I just know I heard it somewhere.

????? Is it because I dared to mention her name?

The one on Driving Rain was certainly written for HM. There's also an officially unreleased song called "Heather" that Paul had written for his daughter. It was recorded in early 1969 during the sessions for Hopkins' Postcard LP.

HM? Yeah, that could still be Heather McCartney! But the uploader of this video got it wrong then, you think?
He/she says:Paul said he was just messing around on the piano and came up with this tune, and Heather (McCartney, his daughter, NOT Mills) urged him to get it on tape because she thought it was a really nice tune. So he called the song Heather.

I know he got it wrong! The two songs are totally different! This is the one he wrote for his daughter:

Isn't it a duet with Donovan in studio? It's off the bootleg called No.3 Abbey Road NW8.

I wouldn't call it a duet as Donovan only provided backing vocals and yes, No.3 Abbey Road NW8 is one of several boots this song appears on.

""On the day that I die I'd like bells to be rung And songs that were sung to be hung out like blankets That lovers have played on And laid on while listening to songs that were sung" It always seemed strange to me that he would repeat the words "songs that were sung" twice in one verse. Seems a bit awkward. JMHO
I strongly dissagree.i think the song 'end of the end' is pretty good although perhaps not as good as some of his greats. The lyrical/poetic content however is pretty awesome and easily paul's best set of words in decades.
-
From "Press" "Oklahoma was never like this..." What's Oklahoma got to do with anything? haha But I love the song anyway, and the video is just lovely with Paul always running his hands through his salt-and-pepper hair

I need your heart babe, on a plate? Cannibalism at best... lol
I love cannibalism when it comes from a vegetarian.

"My teeth smell" or "your teeth smell" a weird phrase in one of his "Ram" songs
It's not really weird. Try not brushing your teeth for a day and you'll get it.

the thing about the song is it invokes strong images of Paul's death and the reaction.

The lyrics to "The End of the End" are perfect. Period.

Of course. More people should write songs about death (or about their own deaths specifically). It's an important taboo to break. That's probably what impressed me about the song most.

oh I owe it all to you.. you make me happy.. so bad but it works so well in the meter I get what he was doing. but that phrase should not be allowed in lyrics. too plain IMO. and if I happen to be singing along with that song I catch myself there everytime.. no way I'm singing that. however I'm also admittedly a weirdo who's splitting hairs cause Paul can be one hell of a great lyricist. So Bad has really bad lyrics in the chorus I'd say, but its more the delivery of the line girl I love you so bad... the song is much too cheesy to withstand such a lyric. if the song was uptempo and rocking or something the lyric might work. however, you make me happy.. will barely ever work IMHO. probably never. I fully leave room for the possibility that Paul was messing with us

Man all the lyrics posted here are great!!! My other hero, Mark Knopfler, has a song on his last album with the lyric, On and on we go, through this old world a shuffling, If you've got a truffle dog, you could go truffling.... I kid you not! So Paul is doing pretty good. His lyrics were always sublime, just that John always trashed him in interviews.

lots on Driving Rain, I think this is the worst: "if you're part of my love don't leave home tonight"
