Man, whoever's complainin' about this show, I don't what you were listening to! I've got a recording of this and it's frickin' amazing! The band is s**t hot and Paul is incredible! The BBC sound mix is just gorgeous. One of the best shows of his I've heard in a long time, better than any show he's done recently. Thank you BBC! Thank you, Band! Thank you, Paul!
You referring to the lengthier set on Radio 2?

Ok I was 3 people from the front and Rachel was in front I can see over her head no problem. Paul came out and play 8 days so I was like 20 feet or so from him. At the end of the song I moved to the back as my back was killing me and a kind lady from audience control gave me a chair to sit in at the side. So from then on it was a listening experience for me apart for My Valentine and 1985 as I could see him at the side piano ( the black shiny one). Mostly my eyes were shut and when open I was seeing the audience and the bbc staff who were nipping in and out. Poor James connections did him no good and he was stuck at the back. The sound from the band and him was fantastic, bass hitting my chest like a fibulator and the audience singing , clapping and dancing the BeeB staffers too, some young and very attractive too. I had deliberately not listened to any tracks apart from NEW, well it was free, legal and from his site, as I wanted to hear the new songs completely fresh. Would have preferred two more NEW tracks but what the hell it was free. SAVE US got me straight away and remember at this I making my way to the back getting weird looks don't know why they were all moving one place closer. Liked the feel of Everybody out There. New I had got to really enjoy more and more with every listen and as 3 neighbours had said to me the previous week a great poppy song. Shoot me I like pop. Queenie Eye felt then on Wednesday after hearing if first as a great fun live song as in Nod Your Head though it was to become the bane of my life on Thursday and Friday as you sodden 3 can't sing. I have seen him since 1979 play BOTR and weds performance was up with the best if not the best I have heard it. Another Day was sublime. To me on Being wasn't up to the rest of the gig and some of you know I am not a fan of My Valentine but it was a good performance of it. Imagine my horror and well known anglo saxon terms of endearment when I listened to radio 2 broadcast that evening on the hotel freeview. That wasn't the concert that I HEARD. Remember I am and old fart and I couldn't see him to get carried away with emotions all I had was my ears and I ain't deaf. It was a great performance by him and the band. I really want to plug some audio devices in some peoples bathrooms. Ta very much to the Beeb, the two nice ladies in audience control and to paul and the band. p.s.. Well done to Vanessa fletz for during the gig letting wee Rachel in front of her to see the lad. Thank you lass.
Rachel Doyle???

Ah wonderful. I met Rachel in Las Vegas, waiting in line for Macca at the Joint, and then I ran into her in Manchester or Liverpool 2011. She was very kind and even gave me a Christmas card that December. Robert

Yes, it's an hour long. I tuned in at 7:30 but it's on a loop and started again at 8pm. Hope that makes sence in the way I worded it. BTW what is BBC2 's in concert series anyway? Is it something completely different from whatever was already broadcasted in full on the radio back in October? Oh, and I'm sure Rob Brydon and Chris Evans(and somewhere Simon Pegg) queued for hours when they received their waiting list tickets...but that's a whole other topic...

There were two different shows recorded in Maida Vale on October 16th. The earlier show was for Radio 6Music. That was broadcast live (audio only) presented by Lauren Laverne with video highlights on the Red Button service later that night - also from 19.00 hrs. The afternoon show was presented and recorded by BBC Radio 2 for it's regular In Concert radio programme slot on Thursday nights at 20.00. Jo Wiley presented for BBC Radio 2. That was broadcast Thursday 17th at 20.00 hrs. This Red Button stream is the first time the video of this second show has been broadcast. Note some wag on Paul's Official Facebook wrote:
Set your reminders for 7pm tonight when you can finally watch Paul performing tracks from his 'NEW' album for BBC Radio 2 In Concert.
Suggesting that MPL too were annoyed it took so long for this Red Button broadcast! In addition to the Red Button broadcast, this show is now on-line here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b03j0brd (most likely restricted to UK viewers) available like all BBC content for seven days - six remaining.... The afternoon show for BBC Radio 2 was the longer, more comprehensive, of the two - these highlights run to 60 minutes and span a greater selection of songs including a return to Kisses On The Bottom with a performance of My Valentine. Radio 6 Music Show recorded morning of October 16th 1. Coming Up 2. Save Us 3. Junior's Farm 4. We Can Work It Out 5. New 6. Queenie Eye 7. Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da 8. Get Back Radio 2 In Concert Show recorded afternoon of 16th October. 1. Eight Days a Week 2. Save Us 3. Jet 4. My Valentine 5. Nineteen Hundred and Eighty-Five 6. Another Day 7. Thanks for this information. I probably thought only the Radio 6 show had been filmed and completely forgot to listen to the radio 2 show at the time. The BBC puts out compilation CDs of live radio, maybe a song or 2 from these Maiden Vale sessions could be considered.
