A friend of mine says Paul nowadays has one of the most annoying voices of anyone when he's being interviewed. Something about his tone. What do people think? Also, what is his accent nowadays? How has his voice and accent changed and developed over the years?

His speaking voice is deeper and more gravelly(sp) nowadays...not sure why anyone would call that 'annoying' though (natural part of aging)...One thing I do notice differently from a habit perspective is that he often slows down at certain parts of sentences as if he's trying to emphasize every other word that comes out of his mouth...not so much a good or bad thing...but something I notice a lot of people do when they age - and it's something that sounds perfectly normal and ok coming from someone Paul's age but would sound almost condencending and annoy the heck of me if I heard that coming from an 18-20 year old

You can def. hear he is aging now. His accent has changed a few times thru the years. Early Beatlemania years he tried a more sophistacated tone, trying to sound more London...also after being married to Linda with her upper class New York accent...but I always hear Liverpool coming thru !!

I go back so far,I'm in front of me

I would tell my friend, if you find it that annoying, "one of the most annoying" , don't listen to him. very simple. Since it's such an exaggerated statement, I wouldn't even bother going any further. At this board many seem to have a "friend" that disses Paul. However, vocal changes are a valid discussion, voices change with time, a fact of life. The discussion could be framed w/o an over the top comment.

I assure you I do have an ACTUAL friend who stated this actual opinion to me this weekend when I mentioned I'd been getting into Paul McCartney's music. He's quite opinionated about a lot of things - quite different to me, as I'm never very sure about much. And he probably was overstating the case, but that's him and he did say that. He said it went right through him when he heard Paul being interviewed (which you do hear quite often, btw. Not that easy to avoid listening to Sir Paul altogether as he's forever being interviewed about something or other in the media). I could kind of see where he was coming from. Something about the drawl Paul uses now, combined with the strange accent and that mellow slightly hippyish tone. I don't find it annoying myself, but I was quite amused and wanted to see what people thought.

My nephew can't stand any of the Beatles talking voices and as a result, he can't watch their movies (which he had to do since he's in film school).

Perosnally, I am also amused by Paul's 'slightly hippyish tone' too and am for personal reasons. (daddy will never leave that part of himself behind. It gave him too much). but personally, many American females have a soft spot for sexy British accents (a direct result of the British Invasion of both the 60s and 80s). I never found Paul's speaking voice as sexy as George's. I do think Paul has a great speaking and singing voice but for some reason, I wouldn't call his speaking voice the sexiest or most astounding British accent. (Patrick Stewart on the other hand...)

I used to really like his speaking voice, but not so much any more. I know it sounds that way just because he's getting older, and it makes me sad.

I think we have to remember what Paul is promoting atm. He's obviously putting on his poshest voice to fit in with the classical music thing.

                              What was Oklahama like?

I'm a mid-western American---I've never detected a difference in his accent. I just can't hear it. Now when Madonna's accent changed---I heard definitely that!

Well I think contrary to your friend, that the accent and the voice of Paul are very nice, has a sort of musicality. For me, I'm Spanish speaker, is easy to understand everything that speech in his interviews, just because the way it does. I love to hear it, the last interview in a classical music radio, which features "Ocean's kingdom" was very pleasant

                                    Please, come back soon!!!!

It's not his accent that has changed, it's the way his voice sounds. (deeper, gravelly sort of) It's hard for me to describe without submitting videos for comparison.

He also slurs his words more. Again, an age thing. I have to say though I've never heard more of a change in someone's voice as I have with pauls but I think a lot of that is down to me analysing it so much over the years. Love the comment on this thread about how Paul is putting on more of a posh voice atm cause he's promoting his new classical album. Hilarious!

well I'd say so!!!!!!!! BEST VIDEO I HAVE EVER SEEN!!!! omg! HOW DID YOU DO THAT??" altho I can't get any sound on it at the moment, for some reason? well Rupert. nice to meet you! I would say this about that: never analyze! go with your first Instinct! cause your Intuition never fails! never question your self. because you are usually right in your decisions! that is Cute about the Posh thingy! Paul would think that very cute! his Vocals has always been Excellant! Alto Bass Tenor and Soprano. and Gravel to is cool, he need not follow any rule! as he has always been the, professional. on how his view gets across! always the "Diplomat". sewing it all together, with his loving Words! hoping to make things all better! because he does not like things to go wrong!!! but if it does, their will be a new Strong Song! with the lyrics to to so he can get his point of view to us the listener. so we can heal and move forward too! cause were going thru Trials and Tribulations too! P.S. Paul never Slurs his words, he Mumbles sometimes. when he mumbles out loud, he sometimes catches himself off guard. it can be scary soemtimes! so he blows out a sigh of "Relief". after he has Focused on the moment at hand! every one does it, even me. so Paul can rest knowing it is just a "Human Thing". for folks who care about their Wordings! keep it Simple. let the pressure go. and rest in peace and comfort, and he shall be shown which way he next should go! that is what I would say about that! from me to you, fromlil ole me ops:
