KOTB charting

dcshark:
the true test will be where KOTB is charting in two or three weeks. hope it is still in the top 10, but I doubt it.
I doubt it, too. Look at Leonard Cohen's album. It went from No. 3 last week to No. 33 this week. That seems to be the way it goes for all of these albums by older artists. A big first week when the fans buy the album and then it drops off the charts quickly. But we'll see. I was surprised to see 4 copies of KOTB show up for the first time in my Starbucks this week on Monday, and today they're all gone, while the copies of that new Bob Dylan compilation sit there unsold. So I guess we'll see. But my guess is KOTB would drop out of the top 20 next week.

this is the world chart http://www.mediatraffic.de/albums.htm Is it me or has the autotuned-robotic-empty stuff dissappeared of the top 10? Can we already say we have survived that era? (Autotuned performances, robotic melody, empty lyrics...)

Number 3 in Denmark!
-
Still no No1 on the mainstream charts!! I guess the news he topped some Jazz chart will have some doing somersaults and going mental on the isometric bars before shooting off to the Olympics to claim bragging rights for winning a bronze medal. well done Paul for notching up another top 10 hit

Paul McCartney is at the very top of the jazz charts, a big #1 for Kisses On The Bottom!! This man is truly one in a million, a true living legend!! Yet another #1 to add to his post Beatles collection! How this mans career after the Beatles doesn't get the real true credit it deserves is just insane!!
Some are saying KOTB will eventually be more influential than "A Kind of Blue"
You MUST be joking. In fact, that is such an absurd notion; it doesn't even qualify as sarcasm.
some are saying its his best ever album

1. No jazz album is going to ever be more influential than Some Kind of Blue. 2. Best ever album? Um...not so much. Decent album? Yes. It's not in my top 5 fave Macca albums, though. Maybe not even the top 10. Still a solid album, though.

I don't know about how influential the album is, all I'm sharing is that the man has his first #1 in how many years! Seems to me that should be highly celebrated!!

Actually, it's not a #1 on the mainstream charts. He just had a #1 with Ocean's Kingdom in the classical music charts, I believe. And he's had #1 on non-mainstream charts with some other releases in the past several years for his classical albums, etc. KOTB is doing well, but let's not get carried away.

Now everyone can throw tomatoes at me but I don't get Kind of Blue. I don't say it's not good... only I don't get it, I guess if I get it some day then I'll get jazz (and even write jazz). I'm thinking "So What?" all of the time... really.

It's dropped to No 12 in the real charts like most of us expected, a No 3 was good tho

Good for him! It's a quaint enough little album with some gems on it, and it deserves to do well in sales.
-
"the first number one in many years, for him"--I thought "Ocean's Kingdom" was number one on the classical charts, for a while. I read that here somewhere, I think.

#12 in UK Charts This Week
According to the BBC chart it's number 10 not 12. I must admit i thought it would have dropped out of the top 20 myself.
