Was this posted already? http://www.mediabase.com/mmrweb/insideradio/charts.asp?format=4&showyear=y&dpt=n "My Valentine" was a Top 20 hit on Billboard's AC Chart last month. Paul's awesome, awesome track was in the same company as Adele, Hot Chelle Rae, Lady Gag(a).
Several pages ago, this was the focus of my post. I'd like to re-visit that. "My Valentine" -- a future McCartney-classic -- hit the Top Ten on a Billboard chart. And as a long-time fan, that delights me.
Me too. I wish someone like Adele would cover it on her next album. This song deserves to be covered, and often -- like any other standard.
Would like to hear My Valentine covered, not sure by who though?
I'm quite surprised by the large number of folks in Youtube-land who have already covered this song. I'll venture to project that "My Valentine" will be covered by as many unknown musicians as "Jenny Wren." Lots of covers of "Jenny Wren" out there.

Well I agree it is sad that more people don't know about Chaos or Electric Arguments. But the fact is, he has sold more CDs in the US in the past 5 weeks with KOTB sales (160,000 and counting) than he sold in ALL of 2011 (when he sold only about 144,000 CDs in the U.S.) So yes, KOTB is a big success for Paul -- not if you're comparing it to BOTR, but this isn't 1973. For 2012, and compared to Paul's CD sales from 2011, it's a big success.
Just to throw this out there: Paul didn't release a new album, aside from Ocean's Kingdom, in 2011, and Ocean's Kingdom was released towards the end of the year, so I'm not sure that comparing this new release to last year's sales really backs up your argument...
Besides Ocean's, in 2011, he also released the remastered McCartney and McCartney II to very strong reviews for both. So in 5 weeks, Paul has surpassed his total CD sales for all of 2011 in the U.S. That's all I'm saying.

Oh, okay. I'm looking at original work, because re-releases don't typically sell massive amounts.

I just caught up on the last 10 pages of this thread, and thought maybe this would help us get back on the topic of KOTB's charting: an article on where it is in the charts. I post this not to knock the album, but to let folks know what its current status is: Taken from http://www.examiner.com/paul-mccartney-in-national/mccartney-s-kisses-on-the-bottom-moves-lower-on-the-charts
Paul McCartney's "Kisses on the Bottom" generally moved a little further down in the most recent chart listings released late last week.

Yeah...as I stated shortly ago, the "honeymoon" phase for the album is about over, but I'm proud of its success, nonetheless.

I stated a while back in the thread that I was surprised it did so well, pleasantly so, mind you. It's not exactly something that was going to light up the charts and take the world by storm, but for a cover album of standards, it performed quite nicely.
-
I'd rather he had a regular album do this well to be honest, I honestly think he'll have lost a chunk of sales for the normal album through this project. He had momentum on his side from all his touring and the fact he hadn't released an album for so long. I think a regular album could have done really well, particularly if it was as good as EA, MAF or Chaos!

I'd still like to see a secondary "push" for "My Valentine," though. It's a great song, and it charted respectably -- but it could do better. By the way: Not much talk about the Capitol Studios album, is there?

I'm hoping that the KOTB album gets folks wanting the rock album even more, especially because he'll be out touring a bit more this year than he has for a few years. I'm thinking with the European shows, then the South American shows, and then his (I say hopefully) US tour this summer, he'll get us all worked up into a frenzy for his new rock album.

That is precisely why I thought that it was a better strategy to release the standards album first. Plus, Paul -- being a rocker at heart -- might have the itch to rock out soon.
-
Unfortunately if you read reviews on Amazon or iTunes from the public they are very very mixed and rather than leaving some people wanting more they've just decided Paul has lost it and won't but the next album. I hope I'm wrong!

...In its fifth week on the Billboard Jazz Albums chart where it had its best showing by holding the #1 sport for four straight weeks...
Nothin' to sneeze at.

He can't stay away from rock/pop, and that's his bread and butter. And no, the Capital Studios album on iTunes hasn't really generated a lot of buzz. I wonder how it's selling...

That's just ammo for Paul to make the next album 100% kick-ass.

Given the confusion and disappointment regarding the deluxe version of the studio album, lots of folks don't seem to be as enthusiastic -- to say the least.

Yeah, that is a bit of a downer, isn't it? We seem to have a half and half review of it on the board, as well, and we're all diehard Paul fans. ops: So yes, as Audi pointed out, this and the Ocean's Kingdom ballet reviews should be motivation for Paul to come out swinging even harder than usual. #kicksomebuttPaul.

I'm finally getting my REAL deluxe version from my parents this weekend. Damn you, Target and all big box stores!

Well the Amazon reviews of Memory Almost Full are just as divided as the ones for KOTB. Meanwhile, the Amazon reviews for EA are much more uniformly positive and yet it didn't sell anywhere near as well as KOTB or MAF. Makes no sense.

Yup. No sense at all. EA is my favorite album of the three and it's the least popular with at least the buying public. Again, though, it wasn't put out under Paul's name, and that may be why it didn't sell as well. That's just my guess...
