I think it would have made more sense if possibly the last 6 months of this year's thread could have been kept to at least make things somewhat current and have meaning ??
Fair comment, and as you can see something we've been able to achieve..... just.... For the non-techies amongst you, that just involved opening up a single page with not 25 posts as we see here routinely but the full 7,000 + entries. Scary stuff... Thank goodness for increasingly better computer systems and internet bandwidth, we couldn't have managed that a couple of years ago. My PC died last week and had to be replaced - that one wouldn't have made it Anyway, happy anniversary to the topic..... Martin

How cool is seeing the last pages of my favorite thread back here! After all, 7,000 posts plus entries are not for everybody! Thanks, Martin!

That's mighty impressive that you got to interview them. However... ...back when I was a journalist, I got the chance to interview The Man himself in '95. Via fax, unfortunately.

Fax is better than nothin! So what's the story attached to that then?!

I was an editor for Bone Music Magazine, which was a regional music publication that focused on alternative artists. We got a press release about the inception of L.I.P.A., and -- of course -- I was all over it! I faxed my questions to the public-relations firm who then forwarded them to Paul's people. Paul answered my questions verbally, and they were transcribed and faxed back to me. This is just before email would make everybody's lives much, much easier. My questions focused on Paul's invlovement (he had put up at least $1 million dollars to get the whole thing going), but at the end I HAD to mention that I'd seen him in concert a year and a half prior -- and that it was a dream come true. Paul responded something like, "We had big fun, too" or something like that. Anyway, I was a loyal fan and covered anything relating to Paul that i could. I reviewed the first Fireman album, Strawberries Oceans Ships Forest (citing "Pretty Little Head" as an early indicator that Paul had an interest in electronic music); however, our publication had a column called Jurassic Rock, and Walter Amour used to rip on new releases by classi artists -- and he trashed Paul Is Live, which pissed me off at the time. Now I see his point.

That is so cool about interviewing him (kind of!) And I'd forgotten about Strawberries Oceans Ships Forest! I should put it back on my ipod! It actually deserves a thread because it hs to be the most underrated Fireman album EVER!

Actually, I would say that Rushes (199 is the underrated one. Incredible music on that. Even I, Audi -- the Fireman groupie of this board -- was late discovering its majesty. Strawberries..., to me, was an overlong dance-single. The differences among the tracks were too minimal. Track 1 pretty much tells the story -- but if you wanna go on a head-trip, play the whole thing.
