During the later part of the "On The Run" tour in 2011, Paul added "Come and Get It" to the set list. I've seen a few videos of the song performed live on Youtube, however none of them had Paul mentioning Badfinger. Was wondering if anyone here who has seen him perform that song recalls him saying anything about the group? Thanks.

Thanks! I agree, I wish he had included it in the first leg of the tour.... thought it was a nice addition to the set list.

It sounded great when he played it at the O2 in London, but as runcible said it went down rather poorly generally, ignorant audience methinks.

Was a good addition to the set, problem is they don't stick around for long.

The crowd reaction seems OK to me when I listen to those recent live versions. If Paul expected thunderous applause -- like "Hope Of Deliverance" in South America, for example -- then that would've been unrealistic. Those few performances definitely would've been better served by a simple but clear intro. All Paul needed to do was say, "Here's an old hit I wrote for the band Badfinger" and just do the song. In our little bubble here at the forum, we know that it's Paul's song, but the record belongs to Badfinger; they own it. Therefore, it's not necessarily guaranteed ear-shattering applause at a Paul McCartney concert. "Too Many People" is very, very, very obscure, and Paul introduced it appropriately on the '05 tour: "This one's for the Wings fans." And the crowds genuinely liked what they heard.

amazes me how after all the years not a mention he plucks a song out of the memory banks

A good song but rediculous choice to put it in the live show. Maybe something he wrote whilst he wasn't a beatle. You've got too good a solo career to add these songs.

                      Sir Paul McCartney....Thank You!!

Yeah, he did mention it at the London O2 show after he sang it. Just something brief like "Some Badfinger, eh?" In honesty, I hadn't heard the song until Paul did it and now I love love love it. Probably the song I listen to the most when I listen to On The Run songs.

He didn't say anything about the song in Liverpool, just that it was one he had never sang in Liverpool before.

Come and Get It was written in summer of '69 during the Abbey Road sessions. The Beatles didn't break up until 6 months later. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Come_and_Get_It_(song) Edited to add: I just reread your post CMackbird and now I understand what you meant--you want him to do a song that he wrote after he became a solo artist. I quite like the song but yeah he has a tonne of material, even unreleased material that are better songs. I just wish he would get that.

I love the "Come and Get It" song. When I was growing up, my Dad and I would listen to Badfinger's version, which is great. But it was not till years later I would learn Paul had written it, and I love his version the best.
