I'm just trying to find the Goodnight Tonight one..not on Twin Freaks either..
The link Martin post is part 1 of 4 from the Mexican (Up and Coming) show...One out of these 4 has the version of Goodnight Tonight you're looking for...In fact, of the first few songs I heard (Silly Love Songs, Coming Up, Goodnight Tonight, Temporary Secretary) are from the same remixing sessions I think you're talking about....I bought a bootleg that had these remixes on them at the Danvers, Massachusetts Beatles Convention a number of years ago (I forget which year, but it definitely predates the Twin Freaks project by at least a few years (I want to say these remixes came from the late 90's)....the cd is in my car and I'll post details of what's on it later on...I want to say it's something he worked on in the wake of Linda's death, but not quite sure. Also, additional to Martin's link and the parts you can find through his link, when you get to the one with Goodnight Tonight on it, you'll see another link from the same preshow that includes only Goodnight Tonight (I didn't select it to hear the quality though)

I have found what it's from..after a little researching. In 2001 there was a promo cd released along with Wingspan called The Remixes, and it is available on that cd.

Yeah - that's what my bootleg is called and I would venture to guess the Wingspan project that you're referring to is the source of my bootleg (I know it also has remixes of With A Little Luck, Listen to What the Man Said and a couple of other's I'm forgetting right now (as well as the songs I mentioned above)... But I have to admit, I'm a little surprised to hear them resurface in 2010...I don't think it was part of the pre show sound track the prior summer (when I saw him at Fenway Ballpark in Boston - although the photo collage seems either the same or similar)...as I said before, there were several songs from that same project on Martin's link (although maybe part 2 and not directly on the one Martin posted) I take it when you say 'promo', this disc was never for sale (through legit retail sources at least)...so I did the right thing in picking up the bootleg in having little hope of getting the legit disc (???)

It has: 3 versions of Silly Love Songs 3 versions of Coming Up 2 versions of Goodnight Tonight No More Lonely Nights Let'em In Temporary Secretary With A Little Luck Listen to What the Man Said The title of this CD is 'Macca Mixes' and there are no other details other than the length of each song

Thanks for that - funny enough I checked the year this CD was pressed and it is 2001...I'm going to guess I got it two years after the fact because I brought my daughter to the convention and she was either 4 or 5 at the time (a puppet man was mimicking Paul singing Freedom live and we also met Laurence Juber )

Can anyone provide the pre-concert set list. Heard a few covers of Beatles songs (e.g. Stevie Wonder's "We Can Work It Out" - (hey!)). Didn't hear it all, though. Enjoyed it a lot. Thanks.
-
Take a look through the dedicated concert threads in this forum, there are members attending most pre-show sound checks and they do their best to post reports. The set-list at rehearsal varies widely from show to show, there isn't a set order of songs. Paul often uses the sound check to first perform/rehearse future "specials" - but not usually at the sound check of the show at which the song is destined to be"the surprise" song. Which show in particular were you interested in? Martin

Martin, I think the poster is referring to the pre-recorded opening, which is discussed here: http://maccaboard.paulmccartney.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=75101

In Chicago there was pre soundcheck tracks played, soundcheck, preconcert mixes, then concert.

Veggieburger got the idea. Thank you, Martin, as well. The referenced list is probably not exactly it-- it doesn't include the great Stevie Wonder cover played-- but its in the ballpark. (Speaking of ballparks, the one where I saw the McCartney show is Great American Ballpark, Cincinnati, on August 4) I looked into some of the tracks from nobodytoldme's list. The Supremes (You Can't Do That) album from which it was pulled has some pretty crazy covers (How Do You Do It, House of the Rising Son). .

You've probably hit on the fluid nature of this compilation. Whilst the concept of remixes, mash-ups and cover versions has remained the intro to Paul for several years now the content does vary. It goes back some years to the Summer 2004 shows in Europe when Paul had "Hellraiser" live on stage doing the mixing before each show. That lead to (or was spawned from... I forget now) the Twin Freak remixes and this intro music being played since. Update - the Twin Freaks material was indeed spawned from Freelance Hellraiser's live appearances: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twin_Freaks Fans have noted changes - noticibly after the release of Electric Arguments when elements of those tracks were incorporated. My Love question (re: cover version from Paul's preconcert.....music soundtrack)...Anyone know who does that instrumental (on sax) version? I think it was the first song on the soundtrack prior to Paul's Up and Coming series of concerts... Also, if anyone knows who does that funk version of Get Back...that would be cool too )

i dont know a funky versionn of get back but i know a mexicano
