Just read in a couple of news stories that Damon Albarn (of Blur fame) did a jazzy cover of Goodnight Tonight as part of his Africa Express project (it's a train that's apparently traveling around the UK with African artists doing performances). Anyway, Damon Albarn sang a couple of songs and one of them was this cover. Great little song. And if Damon Albarn can cover it, why can't Paul sing it at his shows. I would love to hear this live at a Paul show.

I need to check this out, however the notion of Damon Albarn singing the most vocally, technically demanding genre -- jazz -- is a red flag. I liked Blur in their early days ("I Know" is my fave), and they're still a good band -- but Albarn's style of deliberate, quasi-punk'ish half-singing grates my nerves. I'm very curious to see what he does when focuses on a melody.

I haven't been able to find any audio of it. I just read about it, and it was described as a "jazzy" version but who knows if that writer was characterizing it accurately. Heck I was just glad to see someone like Damon Albarn covering it!

Apparantly Paul is appearing tonight in London as part of the Africa Express tour. Pictures on his Twitter feed. Wonder if he'll perform Goodnight Tonight?

So many great Wings and solo stuff that needs to be heard again. Tired of his Beatles songs.

Damon Albarn just performed 'Goodnight Tonight' again on stage in London. And guess what? They were joined by a very special guest... http://maccaboard.paulmccartney.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=84935

Listen to Parklife again, his singing on that is pretty top notch.

Looks as though Paul is having a ball, perhaps GT is just the song to give his shows a much needed boost !

And -- on top of all that -- Paul sounds great!! Add this one to those list of jaw-dropping shockers: Cosmically Conscious, Letting Go, Mrs. Vanderbilt, Hope Of Deliverance, Ram On etc.

Good to see Paul back in the performance mode following a 'not so good' Olympic finale. His voice appeared fine as it always is after a few songs live. Still not sure what happened at the Olympic ceremony. However, roll on more UK shows & a new album please!!!

And in the end, the love you take, is equal to the love you make!

Goodnight Tonight would've been a great song to finish the Olympics with 'Don't say it, you can say anything, but don't say goodnight tonight' very apt He could even have got the audience to sing along and do 'DONT SAY IT, DONT SAY IT'
