The "Ram" Remaster Thread

Only UK press stuff I've seen is the photo gallery on the online Guardian website. Love the homepage on the new PM site, though Paul's blurb could have done with some proof reading. Was hoping for a Radio 2 Sounds of the Seventies special or something!??
Did you notice one of the pics of John & Paul says "1986"?!! Supposed to be 1968!

I have to say that for the first time since Paul initiated this 'Archives' series, I'm going drop the money on the full blown deluxe version...the first several releases, I just made sure I got the original album + at least a bonus CD of unreleased material/alternate takes...being that I'm not a DVD/Visual person, I'm not always keen on dropping extra money on DVDs (although in saying that, I do have a healthy Paul McCartney DVD collection... PS - I'm sure most everyone got the email from the main site regarding being able to pre-order through PM.com (kinda old news - I got mine either early this past week or late last week)...But just in case someone didn't get it, or if it dropped into their junk email box and you didn't check that, I thought I'd give a little reminder
Same here, man. I've been going with the mid-level sets for each release, viewing the deluxe ones as cool but unnecessary, but Ram's a whole other animal. It's funny though, my brother, who's a Paul fan, just more casual than me, saw a copy of the BOTR deluxe and said something to the effect of 'These are nice, with as much Paul stuff as you waste money on, why wouldn't you get these?' So maybe I'll break down and do it at some point.
I got BOTR from Best Buy and got their exclusive. I didn't get the delux book and now I'm wondering...

NO it's not wrong. Paul can move clouds during concerts and travel through time. Haven't you seen the time traveling done on this board where responses happen before the actual question? Same thing going on there.

I've been listening to disc #1 and disc #2 for about a week. They've done another excellant job here. They sound great. Bonus tracks sound awesome..>A love for you is a mix that i've never heard with it now being very piano driven instead of guitar. The DVD has some great stuff but I wish it were longer. I got the advanced listening promo but still have to wait to hear the Mono and Thrillington

If you bought that best buy version, and bought the 25th anniversary version a number of years ago, you actually have everything except the book from the full blown deluxe version - the additional disc that's not in the 2 cd Archive version is one and the same as the bonus disk from the 25th anniversary version (which would be the same as I have)

I see Percy Thrillington is on Twitter and Facebook now!

I didn't get the 25th anniversary edition. I didn't have money for buying CDs back then. When I bought my BEst Buy version, I couldn't justify buying the bonus and was happy with what I got. Now, since i love most of these bonus disc (especially the ones in McCartney II) I wonder if I'm missing something. I saw the delux set at a bookstore and contemplated it a while ago.

Will the super Deluxe be available through the high street.Through places like HMV for people who dont buy off the net.

I don't see why not but I guess it depends on how much space they have. The deluxe version wouldn't be able to fit on the normal shelving units but they could have a few copies on display behind the counter. If HMV (especially their city branches) won't stock them then I can't see anyone stocking them either.

Good point on not fitting on a normal shelf. In HMV Liverpool One.They have tables around the front of the store so maybe if they do stock it,they would place them there.

Is the review from Jon Landau out yet?

Are we assuming that Percy T on Twitter and FB is in fact someone completely seperate from the Maccster 'aving a laugh, or is Paul really finding the time to post....is the honeymoon finally over?
-
Heads up, folks. Rolling Stone Magazine is running a contest to give away a free deluxe set of Ram, WITH the T-shirt and lithograph. Enter here: http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/win-paul-and-linda-mccartneys-ram-in-a-deluxe-edition-box-set-20120515 Bit ironic for Rolling Stone to be doing this, but hey, you may win, so who cares where it's coming from.

No it's somebody related to Paul's people because the official Paul McCartney account retweeted him today. I'd assume it's Stuart Bell.

You're right it is quite ironic. I was just reading Paul's section in RS, it's just a hatchet job on his music, it pisses me off. Paul is quite magnanimous to talk to RS when most of the time they slag him off.

Just saw that David, wondered who it was. Bit mysterious..

Exactly Boycie. RS is a joke magazine, If I was Paul I wouldn't give them the time of day.

You're probably right, would be cool if Paul was learning to tweet though.

I'm sure Paul would rather NOT talk to them but he looks bad if he doesn't. Rolling Stone is not much friendlier to George Harrison, either. The magazine doesn't like another Beatle interfering with its hero worship of John Lennon. That's why Lennon has TWO albums in Rolling Stone's latest issue of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time (Plastic Ono Band at No. 22 and Imagine at No. 76 -- both ratings are RIDICULOUSLY INFLATED), while Paul only has one album on the list (Band on the Run at No. 41 and George Harrison only has one (All Things Must Pass all the way down at No. 437, even though plenty of other critics like to say ATMP is the best album by an ex-Beatle. Not according to Rolling Stone. : ). I bet RS gives the new reissue of Ram something like 3 stars or 3 and a half stars at most. But at least I'm enjoying the fact that Rolling Stone magazine has become a joke. It's long since stopped affecting anything in the music business.
