The "Ram" Remaster Thread

Gotcha. I've done that for the remasters, as well. Just didn't know if there was a better site. I'm mildly afraid to pre-order Ram at the current price, but I guess I'd better get over there and bite the bullet...err...credit card.
I've been watching the Amazon price daily. Right now, though, they don't have much incentive to lower the deluxe edition price as its No. 60 on the top 100!!! That's all the Ram fans jumping in early. I'm hoping the price will come down in a few weeks. If it doesn't, I'll be looking elsewhere.
Nice--SO glad it's doing so well already, and it's not even released yet. I can't even begin to describe how excited I am for this remaster...

I think he's charging about $20-$30 too much for the deluxe editions. But I haven't paid the full retail price for any of my copies. I've been able to get the first 3 deluxe editions for $50 or $60 each. I think that's a fair price. And I think the price on the Ram deluxe edition will come down too. Right now the deluxe version of Ram is listed on Amazon for $100. That's way too much.
Agreed on all points. Can I ask how you're been able to pay less for the deluxe editions?
I pre-ordered them all off Amazon and got a "locked-in" price. The price ALWAYS came down -- as they competed with other sellers. And Amazon has a stipulation if you pre-order where they have to sell it to you for the lowest price they've offered.
thats something worth noting down good points made by the both of you to, personally i wouldnt want the albums released at the same time but i would prefer if it was all done a little quicker, after RAM i'll be looking forward to V & M then probably chuck buying these reissues unless more on the music front is offered. ps. i'm saying that the now, i've got a habit of changing my mind

As for the schedule of one or two a year, let's face it, dragging it out this long is keeping him in the news and making sure each album is getting special attention, but he has over 20 albums in his solo/Wings career. I'm in my mid 30's, and I don't want to turn 60 to finally have the full collection. .....
And the original 1st generation Beatles fans are older than that! So some of them could be as old as 80 or 90! Do nursing homes have stereo systems & DVD players?

I think they keep them next to the ear trumpets and magnifying glasses.

I think the reissuses got spread out due to original material coming out also like Ocean's Kingdom and Kisses on the Bottom. I don't think Paul wanted a reissue on top of those projects so he waited a few months.

That's a good point, and probably one of the reasons for the timing being so spread out, Kathryn. I don't see him slowing down, though, so he'll probably keep a similar release schedule, even though I wish he wouldn't spread them out so much. I think Michelley's point is good, though, too, about lumping some of them together as the re-releases continue, at least two at a time, like the McCartneys I and II.

Paul should do something similar to what U2 did for the remastered/reissued Achtung Baby album. There are different price points based on what the buyer gets. For example, the "Uber" version - most expensive at $400-$500, has early takes of songs, U2 memorabilia from the Zooropa Tour, etc. Macca has enough RAM fans/collectors who love something like this.

Instead of the deluxe or standard editions? Sounds like a great idea.

Yeah. Achtung Baby has deluxe, super deluxe, and uber deluxe! Obviously, the uber deluxe are for the collectors who want everything, but Macca must have so many interest things from the vaults: music, video, pictures, other items associated with RAM, that some of us would pay up to get everything!

He's got to have things in his vault that would make our eyes pop out of our heads. Heck, he could sell hour passes to the vault and we'd be lined up down the block 24/7.

fighting the urge to preorder Ram. Is it even available to preorder on the main site yet?

I've found it to be cheaper on Amazon, Kathryn, but I'm not sure if it's available on Paul's site yet.

I think I will wait because of the last go round...target actually had the best deal.

that's the only place that had the extra songs for KOTB. I thought yours also came from there.

Oh, I'm sorry, I misunderstood! I thought you meant the last set of remasters. Yes, I bought the deluxe KOTB at Target because of the extra songs.
