back at work now and pretty deaf from it! what was it they played before magical mystery tour? i didn't recognise it...
ahahaha, I can imagine you must be a bit deaf! you realize it only when the thing's over... it must have been awesome!!

It must have been surreal to be at that show. For those of you who went, what did it feel like to be there? The sound must have been totally different than in the big stadium shows. I imagine it sounding very much like the bootleg recordings of the Beatles in Hamburg.

I am more jealous of you than you could ever imagine right now, was it incredible? I can't wait for Liverpool on Monday now, just hope I can get away with this terrible weather at the worst possible time!

it was pretty incredible! the place was tiny and the band was in great form. excellent setlist (tho no back in the ussr. hopefully tomorrow!). i was right in front of paul about 5 or 6 people back so had a great view. the crowd were excellent too; a lot of singing and really vibrant around me.

Thanks very much for getting the set list up so quick - (my drooling has taken icicle shape!) Safe travels one and all with the musical adventures ahead!

It was an experience I hadn't even dared dreaming of. The room was tiny, maybe three living rooms (or one, if you happen to be on the wealthy side). Got there early in the morning and was third in line. The organisation was superb, the security staff were very friendly and informative, quite possibly the best security I've seen at a gig. But I'm sure you are all interested in the show... Managed to get a spot right in front of his microphone, about a metre and a half away. I could see both his lyrics prompter and the set list on the floor. It was slightly different from what was played at the show. He did indeed play Matchbox at the beginning. Don't Let The Sun and Petrushka were not on the printed list but were played nonetheless. The order was also different from what is being reported here but I'm sure someone will post the correct one. The show itself... I can't say. I was in a room with Paul and 299 other people. The man was standing right in front of me with nothing in between. It is honestly difficult to judge the show for that very reason. For me, it was simply extraterrestrial. Absolute Elsewhere, as a friend of Paul's once said. The room was husky. There was beer and sweat, as promised. The sound was debilitatingly loud but I don't think anyone cared. If there is a way to lose one's hearing, this is the way to do it. I'm sure my children will understand one day. The sound quality was therefore far from ideal and it was something both Paul and his band mates were complaining of throughout the show. They seem to have sorted it out by the latter part of the show though (not that I could hear a difference). The atmosphere was strange indeed. The crowd was delirious and half of them didn't seem to believe they were actually there. I had this problem quite a bit. But as we went on, we danced more and more and by Hey Jude there wasn't a voice not ruined in the room (it is interesting referring to a concert venue as a 'room'). Paul, on the other hand, seemed to be struck by the sheer minisculity of the venue. It did not affect his performance much but it must have been strange seeing an actual human face with a distinct emotion everywhere he looked, rather than the usual void of a stadium. I'd quite like to know what he himself thought of the show. Abe loved it, naturally. Hmmm, I've been quite wordy here without saying much. I'll be online for an hour or so, if you have any questions, ask away. A special mention once more to security and to all the wonderful people around. There wasn't any pushing or hostility: there was just love for the man's music all around and a feeling of something special the 300 of us had the privilege of sharing together. Basically like Sparta, but we all survived (apologies for the cringe-worthy reference - could... not... help... it).

Did Paul's vocals sound good? Also, did anyone indicate whether and how much of the proceeds from the show went to the club? Just curious.

They were on the quiet side at the very beginning but it got sorted out fairly quickly. They weren't clear on the louder numbers but that is to be expected in a venue like that. Having said that, I'm sure it was better nearer to the sound board. As for the proceeds, no idea. He certainly did not mention anything during the show. Edit: Acoustic numbers were brilliant though, sound-wise.

Hehe, thank you. I might write a more coherent account in the next few days, once the daze settles. I can't say exactly about the time, but around two hours. We were let in at about 12 but the show started much later than the scheduled 12:30. "Traffic delays" joked Paul as he stumbled onto the stage. It did end little after 3 o'clock, so 2 hours is a reasonable estimate. The security folk outside were telling us they're planning for 1, maybe 1.5, hours. So it was a very nice surprise in the end.

Hehe, now now, let's not make the ones who couldn't make it too sad about it. I'm sure giving birth, getting married and winning the lottery are greater experiences. This is pretty close though...

I thought i'd have the same expierience seeing The Sex Pistols but i didn't. Iggy Pop on the other hand... The point i'm making is that performances do it for me, i've never been a great one for just being awestruck. Although having said that i'll probably be screaming like an 8 yr old girl at a Beatles gig when i see Paul tommorow Some shit is just too immense. I want a performance though, a proper fuckin rousing performance, i'm not into these sort of judge panel gigs where everyone just sort of looks on as if they should have scorecards or somethin, fuckin get into it, it's rock n roll, its participative, you're not watching a russian chess champion, it's Paul McCartney P.S. none of what i just wrote was meant as a measure of disrespect to those who WERE just awestruck, i've been a Beatles fan all my life, i TOTALLY TOTALLY get it

Hi Again Ci! Few more questions.. Did you hear sound check as you awaited outside? If so what? And did you take pictures? Were cameras allowed? Thank you for sharing all you have.. I understand it all seemed surreal as you lived it.. and now.. Bet you have more thoughts as you continue to process..

Todays concert could quite possibly be the best experience of my life. It was so incredible? surreal? and I am so lucky and privileged to have gone. Me and my friend were the 2nd ones there, at 6.00am (the only person there before us was a guy who didn?t have tickets, and therefore had been standing outside from 11.00pm the following evening! Fortunately he got in!!) We were the first ones allowed into the club, so ran straight for the best front position we could get. This front position meant Paul talked to us, sang verses at us (which is not entirely different from his bigger concerts)? then STROKED HANDS with us!! And I managed to get one of his guitar picks!! And from where I was, the whole atmosphere was amazing. I got the impression Paul loved playing in such a small, intimate venue ? he even commented on how great it was, and how he?d have to do it again. It was so emotional, having him just less than a metre away from me, the whole time!! The three of them just kept going and going with the guitar solos on ?The End?; they seemed to be having a blast!! Honestly, I?m so so so so so so so happy that I had such an opportunity to see him in this sort of venue. I?m sure nothing can ever live up to this, but still, I?m exhausted but riled up to see him all over again tomorrow.

STROKED HANDS???!?!?!??! Details, please!!! D D D
