It takes a specialized kind of genius for sure! I could never focus my energy on playing for very long. My younger brother would usually win when we played.

That's right. Even though Carlsen is modest about it. He said he is just a normal person, not some sort of freak. He is a classy guy. He always keeps his composure. I like what he's doing to chess. He's more likable than Bobby Fischer who, after becoming a world champion, disappeared for twenty years, only to come back with a deranged version of the game called Fischerandom and then disdained the traditional chess. Magnus is a model of a chess player.
-
Playing the 12-year old Magnus requires a little bit more thinking and care.
-
I must admit, Bobby Fischer was innovative. Apart from his games, one of his greatest contributions to chess is the Fischer clock. I really like Fischerandom chess but I think it's just a waste of time. You won't improve nor learn anything even if you play it a thousand times.
-
You certainly have aged in your avatar there Jessie! You look remarkably like Red Green from the american public television tv show. Red Green is a popular, well liked comedian.
-
That was Bobby Fischer. I just got tired of my old photo. I didn't wanna do another selfie because my hair is too short and I don't look myself in my phone/camera anyway. I'm thrice uglier.

"Chess is mental torture." -Garry Kasparov

To whom it may concern, My brain is messed up. There are just too many distractions and disturbance. I have made a decision to study chess at night or during quiet time only. I'll restart the Chessmaster 4000 Turbo program and publish my games later... Much later!

When playing against - at least - a decent computer program, one wasted move in the opening is a luxury that you cannot afford. By the way, I downloaded a new chess app from Google Play. It's called Chess - Play & Learn. It's created by chess.com people. It's a good training program (even when you're offline). I mean it has nice feature that gives you a hint when you cannot decide on what move to make.
-
Hey Jessie! Hope all is well your way! Do you ever play online with other people? Are there sites where people can do that?
-
Hello, Sur. Yeah, I'm doing fine. I think I know everything about chess. It's just that I'm very poor in calculation. I'm not low on IQ. It's just some outside factors. No, I don't play online. But you can try chess.com. I just signed up again yesterday because I forgot my ID on my first account. I might see you there if I'm in the mood to play.
-
The chessology.com domain is now obsolete. But you can still download the software from web.archive.org. Just type chessology.com on the search box. You can get the last or the best version of the software by selecting Feb 2015.

Controlling space doesn't mean occupying squares with pieces. It's attacking them from afar.
-
Modern computer programs can calculate millions of moves in just a few seconds and can easily find weaknesses. It cannot be said enough: Beware of backward and isolated pawns.
-
There are many free chess softwares in the Internet for you to download but most of them just play against you. They really have nothing to offer. I prefer the old Chessmaster 4000 Turbo program. From tutorials to tests to openings to classic games to assistance... It has everything. And it helps me to achieve my goal: to become a chess master.
-
My favorite players are Morphy, Lasker, Fischer, Kasparov and Carlsen. Five players from from five different era. I think it's essential to play their games. It will increase your interest and enjoyment in chess.
-
Playing Carlsen's games alone is already very beneficial. I prefer his seemingly simple and/or uncomplicated style.
-
Values of the chessmen: Queen - 9 points Rook - 5 points Bishop - 3 points Knight - 3 points Pawn - 1 point

Believe in yourself. Discard your favorite players and learn from all the past & current masters. You never know you might be unique.

Chessmaster 4000 Turbo is an abandonware. You can legally download a free copy from vetusware.com. Speaking of Chessmaster, I re-started the CM4000 Turbo program again today. I'll publish my games later and show you - whether you like it or not - what I've learned and/or how I play. I guarantee you I won't screw this one up.
