Tattoo signatures - yay or nay?
-
I was pulled up on stage at the very end of the first show in Pittsburgh. It was unbelievable, the best moment of my life, and the best moment I will ever have in my life. I'm surprised to see negativity here. I wasn't the first, but that does not lessen the fact that I met Paul McCartney! PAUL MCCARTNEY!!!! I have the tattoo on my shoulder to remind me every day of my life of that moment. I'm beyond thrilled and always will be!

It's only getting old to a few people who see every show, either following him around or diligent Youtubing. It's a real crowd pleaser, Paul seems to enjoy it, and a few people get the huge thrill of having it done. It's fine to have it expected even if everyone starts to know about it from it hitting the general media. It makes for anticipation. It doesn't take long, but is fun to watch so I can't see any problem at all.
I've only seen four shows on this tour and only at Nashville was there a tattoo, so that generalization is also wrong. I also haven't watched the others on You Tube because I find it boring. It was exciting to watch Sarah, but I think Paul should have stopped with Audrey. I hope tonight's will be the last one.
I just love in your post you say you've only seen 4 shows on this tour haha your funny!

Nay In America I'm To Young So That Would Be An Automatic Nay!!!!!!!!!!! Peace & Luv Paulmusic

We had a girl get a sig on her upper thigh last night!!! It was super cute!! I think it's a lot of fun and adds something special to the shows!!! Paul seems to really enjoy doing it and it gives a fan a chance to be onstage with Sir Paul!!! Congrats to all the boardies and everyone else who has had this awesome opportunity!!!

As long as Paul is having fun, and at least one more person gets to meet him, what's the harm? Congrats to all the newly-tattoed out there! lol

I think this trend is exciting as well! I'm going to desperately try to be the luckiest person in the room on August 18th in Pittsburgh and hope that he signs the Blackbird tattoo I have on my shoulder. It would be more than a dream come true to see his signature tattooed for the rest of my life and remember the moment of meeting him. I also happen to be a young female (20 years old to be exact). I don't think that matters at all. I've been listening to Paul's music since I was born and am a bigger fan than most older people I know. I'm putting myself through college with scholarships and bought the tickets for all 3 shows I've been to with extra money I've saved up. I also don't think the amount of people he's signed lessens the experience of meeting Paul McCartney, let's be honest! I have a seat in section 4, pretty close to the front. I'm so full of hope and excitement, I know everyone can't be that lucky, but I've got to try! Here's hoping August 18th, 2010 is the best night of my life! Alvita
Awesome to go back and read this now, huh?

sadness for those who tried and didn't get picked... (not me, I'm not into tats). you are part of a lucky exclusive club walliebaby.

I know that some folks are saddened by not getting a signature, but that's really the same for all of those folks who bring albums, books, posters, etc. to every show as well, hoping to get an autograph, and I know that people have been doing that for over forty years now. I don't think people who don't get an arm/thigh/butt autograph are any more upset than those who don't get their objects signed... It's always sad to not get recognition from Paul, but what you do get is a great show to enjoy, so there's an upside to it.

I agree with walliebaby, there are millions people around the world who would love to meet Sir Paul, me included, it's really fun and sweet that he's made that dream come true for quite a few people during this tour! My hubby & I had an incredible time last night and were thrilled that we just got to see Paul in person! Here's hoping there'll be another tour where more people will have a meet-and-greet opportunity!

I don't know about that...I'm definitely a lot more crushed by not getting signed than not getting an object signed. Honestly, it's not that big of a deal to get an object like an album signed, at least it isn't to me because an object is gonna sit in my house or hang on my wall. When he signs me, I'm getting that permanently inked on my body for the rest of my life, it's something I will carry everywhere and I have to have a very personal interaction with him to get it. That moment will stay with me forever.

I know you know what I mean ) I should really thank you though! I met Audrey last summer in Atlanta and we talked about her tattoo, but I was just wildly jealous and didn't ever think it could happen to a person again. I saw you in Nashville and then was determined to make it happen in Pittsburgh! Thank you for the inspiration!

It is a bummer not to get the recognition for those who want to get signed, but if you think about it, it's mathematically impossible for Paul to be able to meet all of his fans (or sign all the ones who wish to be signed). There's new ones born every day and there are fans who have been there since the beginning, so it's millions and millions of people to one. Anyway, I thought I'd mention here that I am thinking about getting a tattoo! This is a 180 degree shift for me b/c I never considered myself "a tattoo person." I'm not 100 percent sure about it though, b/c I don't like putting myself through pain unnecessarily. The tatt I'm thinking of getting is Paul-related, but it has multiple meanings, as is the case with most body art. Those with tatts, let me know what you think!
-
Well, when you're the only person with a "sign me" sign in Charlotte and Paul doesn't sign you..even when the sign is on the jumbo-tron and junk..it's a little crushing. Still getting the flaming pie tattoo though!
-
exactly my point.

exactly my point.
I don't think he was in a very good mood at that show, compared to the rest, so..it doesn't bother me that much. He didn't mention signs at all, just a car tag.

I think it's a great idea! First of all, the pain isn't that bad...I'm the BIGGEST wuss and routinely pass out when getting blood drawn, shots, etc. But...tattoos haven't been that big of a deal to me. The one on my foot was really uncomfortable, but not really painful, if you know what I mean. Plus - if it has to do with Paul (and other things that mean a lot to you) you'll be fine. I know there will never be a time when I don't love The Beatles/Paul, so I'll never regret my tattoos. Although...I do have a dolphin tattoo...that one - I could live without. I got it when I was in school to be a marine biologist. I work in PR, so obviously that career field didn't work out for me. oops.
