I just saw the quote originally, as I was looking for one...for the anniversary of Sgt. pepper. I was thinking of Peter, Paul and Mary's Where Have All the Flowers Gone at the time I posted it. She may have actually used that as inspiration. Upon looking for a date on the quote, I found it was lifted out of a poem... A poem she wrote for John after he died https://www.letras.com.br/joan-baez/sgt-peppers-band In answer to your question, I don't think either applied...it was for John.

Just to be clear, Where Have All the Flowers Gone was written by the late, great Pete Seeger. Peter Paul and Mary were among hundreds of artists who have recorded it.
