GAS (gasoline!)

Anyone who accepts over a million dollars a year personal income...is a gutless...out of touch...moron edit...and Anyone...who derives their income from taxpayer paid monies...should not accept...over $100,000 a year...for their services Wouldn't you think?

the starting hourly wage into the u.s. american workforce was around $2.00 an hour in the early 70's...a gallon of gasoline was 1/4 that amount...today... it is 1/2 that amount
Sorry bud, but gas is way more than half of $2.00 (still wondering why you didn't just say 'one dollar'...LOL)
Half the amount of today's minimum wage you imperceptive imbecile! Where do they get you people?
What you don't get is that cost of living is entirely different than it was in the 70's...to simply compare gas prices to minimum wage then and now is myopic at best (that's called keeping it clean and civil )

So in other words, if you got the potential, don't ever try to realize it - because you'll be deemed a 'bad guy'

I will agree....that you have no idea what you're talking about Trying to compare gas prices from back then to wages back then, or wages today or wages tomorrow is plain old stupid...it doesn't matter...comparing yesteryear to today doesn't compute in the least because of all the other variables that have changed (including what drove wage bases back then compared to today and what drives the price of oil today vs back then)...because of all the variables, fuel today costing 1/4th the amount of minimum wage is far worse than fuel in the seventies costing 1/2 the amount of minimum wage...that's why it's a stupid analogy and a stupid argument

I live smack dab in the middle of liberal nation and the prices of gas are 3.95 at the cheapest places around my suburban town of Framingham, MA and 4.05 in Boston (just returned from a trip to Guitar Center in Boston and noted the gas prices in town)

I don't care what gas prices were back then or what a loaf of bread or gallon of milk cost. I care about NOW. It's hurting my pocketbook NOW. The price is high NOW.

Chicago suburbs...$4.09-4.29 for regular. Downtown much closer to 4.85.

Pretty much the bottom line right there
-
I agree...a gallon of gasoline should always cost 25% of whatever the hourly rate of minimum wage is... which in contemporary figures...is $2.00 a gallon
-
I believe in doing what we can to get OPEC out of our picture and being a more self reliant country.

No, I believe in the world of Obama - a year or so ago - (he has said) gas prices need to be high (maybe even higher), so people drive less, and the greenhouse gasses are lowered. Mustang.Sal even said the same sort of thing not so long ago ... The trouble is: his true heart beliefs do not muster well when in the re-election mode (ya gotta be dishonest about such touchy things).

Exactly...and don't forget Obama told the Russians that he'd basically hand over our nuclear weapons program after the election...when his hands aren't tied. I'm not sure how the left can lump that live mic comment along with other live mic quips by former presidents...it's pretty greasy dirty if you ask me

Please give quote where I said gas prices need to be higher...since you are speaking for me : I did say that prices would not go much lower because oil is a finite resource..

You are not denying that you want to end peoples addiction to oil ... and go green ... along with your hate of "big oil" ??? You have been a huge supporter of Al Gore ... do you deny that ... ???
