GAS (gasoline!)

Near where I live N.E. of Atlanta, I saw gas for $3.09 at one place! Unfortunately my tank was almost full already. My local Kroger where I get discounts has been $3.29 for at least 10 days now!
-
3.99 is a good price around here. Now if food prices would start coming down, people would be happy

1974

^ Down south it was still 33 or 34 cents a gallon in '73 - I remember because we drove 2 cars to move me down to Atlanta and we thought it was too high!
I used to be able to drive my Dodge Colt from Atlanta to near Tampa in 1974 for only about $6 round trip!

And that seemed high -- it was after the first OPEC oil embargo. A year and a half earlier prices in the low 30s were still common.

Unbelievable prices.

For some perspective, though, you could buy a new 1974 Ford Pinto for $2292

When I was 17 I bought (with money I'd saved since I was a kid) my new 1972 Dodge Colt for just under $2000!

Where I get gas (Kroger) it went down in from $3.18 on the 18th to $3.15 on the 24th, and today it is $3.08! (I got it on the 18th but got 45 cents off per gal so was $2.73)

Play the song "Gasoline" by Audioslave, that song will get your adrenaline pumping!
-
4.69 downtown & 4.09ish in the burbs
-
It’s back up to $3.18 but I got 45 cents off per gallon at Kroger, so 1/2 tank was $12. It also helps I have a hybrid and get 33MPG!

I was in California last month and it was over $6.00 a gallon in the cities I visited (SF, LA, San Diego & Santa Barbara. In Charlotte NC it has dropped but still $3.29-$3.49 a gallon depending on where you go in the city. Thankfully, I don't drive as much since being retired so I can go 3 weeks before refilling gas tank. I was refilling every two weeks when working.

@21st-century-paul No idea of the cost of petrol here in the UK. Never driven a car in my life.

WOW! If I lived in London I would for sure never drive! I love the tube! Is that where you live?
-
Oh, and you might know, as soon as I got gas a couple days ago, today the price is down 10 cents per gallon to $3.08!

Really? I drive everyday. Shopping & going to the dog park.

Almost forgot to mention - gas on Thursday at Kroger was $2.99!!

Kroger was $2.89 yesterday. Georgia is one of the states with the lowest average gas prices,
