If anyone can post Adam Faith's early 1960's movie called 'Oh, What A Whopper' on here in full I'll love them forever!....
Hi David. Hope you are feeling better and enjoying Spring (at last..) I might try and track that film down as have been watching a lot of sixties movies lately. I have been sat crying into a tissue watching Dr Zhivago when I should be getting on with STUFF! Any recommendations would be great (perhaps involving less kleenex!) You know more boys stuff..

Hullo David, Me Luv. Hope you're feeling much better. I've finally got nudged into catching up once again.

This is a campaign dear to my heart.....this theatre in my homeland is being earmarked for demolition. The dumb ass local council (bloody politicians.... : ......mostly dumb or corrupt) are seemingly unconcerned that it is supposed to be the stage where one Stanley Jefferson first tread the boards. Stan Jefferson became Stan Laurel. http://www.facebook.com//group.php?gid=131512870192388#!/group.php?gid=131512870192388

Anybody else been watching this, http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b007mwv9 Mary Queen of Shops. Monday nights on Beeb 2. Mary helps failing local retailers who have lost the plot! Though a bit gimmicky I like the idea behind the programme to save what's left of our local independent shops. Because we have become hooked on the likes of Tesco, our high street is fast disappearing.

I need a nudge to get outta here & start a pot of spaghetti

I love this sort of stuff....hope you do too. This is showing the Britain of my youth..... .......you don't believe that do you?..... There are loads of these so I'll post the first episode and you lazy 'apeths can search out the rest for yourselves if you're interested......'The Lost World Of Mitchell And Kenyon'.

THOSE ARE SO INTERESTING, DAVID!!!

patpatpatti Thank you..... ......I love old historic movies like that. It's fascinating to look at the faces and the landscape/environment they lived in. The fact that the imagery here is mainly very clear allows the viewer to really observe the smaller details of each frame. I'd love a time machine, not to interact with anyone, just to see all of this close to. Obviously I'd stop off in late 50's, early 60's Liverpool/Hamburg and at Abbey Road etc on my way back through time.... The whole series is on DVD freom retailers and available at the BFI (British Film Institute)......they have loads of stuff ('Electric Edwardians' etc), just go into the BFI name on these films and see what else they're up to. The Hitchcock silent masterpieces resoration project they're trying to raise money for looks excellent.

Here's another. I lived about 500 yards from the place this was filmed a few years ago. This event took place in 1901 in Tynemouth.....and judging by the crowds was a popular happening in the days before TV. The rerason I say this is that a 10 year old Stan Laurel lived about a mile away in North Shields at the time, this is very close to where his father ran the local theatre. I wonder if there is a young Stan somewhere amongst this throng. And once again I'd like to point out that I am not present at this event and I'm not one of the contestants .....
This was filmed in Tynemouth in 1932.....a little bit of Stan and Ollie returning for a brief visit to Stan's homeland. The number of times I've dined and beered in The Grand Hotel and strolled those streets and that beach. This is the same visit but for some reason the bloody narrator has gone all Italiano for the event. There used to be an English version on the Tube but it seems to have gorn! This one was filmed around the nearby in North Shields.... -

The beer distributors here need a huge nudge to carry 6 packs & not just cases of Monty Python's Holy Grail Ale

GG Ow do lass.... ....thought a couple of old films might add some artistic interest to this delapidated and sweaty old crotch of a site. I'm suffering.....I have been full of cold for two weeks now (and no, it ain't just man-flu!.... ), it's one of those snotty sessions that takes all your energy.....not good as I ain't got much to spare seeing as I'm dealing with the wee monster who's started shedding teeth hither and thither and has been rampaging around the estate like some marauding Viking for the past month... : .....I need a long rest on a beach with a pretty woman, if the wife will let me that is.... Now, I know how much you lot like tribute bands.... ...especially those ones that play the Boys and their solo stuff coz most of them are sooooo realistic.... : . Well, here's a couple of vids The Fab Four and various solo tribute offshoots like Wingsband etc.....

THANKS, and feel better!

David, me olde chum, hope you are feeling much better. We're out west & there's absolutely nuthin' but nuthin' around. Went for a very leisurely walk thos morning with our kid (while myDH was in his long meeting) & took a roll & a half of pix - interesting architecture on some churches & temples. Blasted maid still hasn't tied up our room. So while we're waiting for His Nibs to surface for his lunch break, I'm catching up.
