i'm sorry you had to go through that, david
how awful for you
hoping it turns out well for you, and you can see properly
it does sound like they were too rough with you. the eyeball is so delicate...
i shudder to imagine your ordeal
-
That hurts all the way to here -- hearing about what you had to go through David.... I wish you a speedy recovery and hopefully some good results after all that. Take care of yourself as much as you can right now.
-
SusyLuvsPaul Thank you for your wishes.......it was truly awful. I'm used to all this by now and not easily deflated or scared witlerss by this sort of stuff....in fact it's the opposite. I'm just not used to that sort of behaviour by a so called professional. If anyone else behaved like that in their job they'd have been in serious trouble. I'm just hoping that he doesn't speak to little old ladies like that, or kids. If your patient is unhappy you find out what is wrong and do it nicely. You then try and calm them and ease their nerves and get them through it not bite their head off for no real reason. I will have good vision, God willing, sometime in the next 12 months....sooner, if I find someone more competent to deal with the problem......
The_Fool Thanks for you post. I will try and take care of myself once the drugs are watered down and I can hit the chilled Chianti. Yowsa!.......I've been sitting with my legs crossed for the last 48 hours.......corr blimey, it is still making my eyes water.....
The thought of another trip next week to see them for a check up and treatment there in the future has me itching to ge back to York where my REAL consultant is based. The wife wants to stay here in Ireland, after that expereience I fear she may be doing it alone.
-
DAVID!!! First of all YAY!! that you're back....you were missed!!
On the other hand, I was crushed to read about your experience....THAT must have been HORRIFIC!!! I immediately equated it to when I had a branch that stuck me directly in the eye and I KNOW what horrendous pain that was, and I thought of it as soon as you mentioned how they were working on you and you could feel it.. OMG. WHY THOSE INSENSITIVE B****ARDS!! TO SPEAK TO YOU THAT WAY!! GEEZ!!
: Well, I hope the worst is over and your on the mend now.....just put it behind you, if you can, and GET BACK to having some fun with us here!! (( hugs))) from Claudy!!
-
Claudia611 (tries to type but can't see the piggin' keys.....
) Laudy Claudy, thank you for your post. I feel very much like this still......
Your accident sound horrendous (worst nightmares scenario)....
......Yeah I agree it's one of two or three areas of the body that makes you wince when you talk or think about some sort of accident befalling them. They are so precious and sensitive and we don't truly realise how valuable they are until trouble strikes. I might have to go under the knife with that insensitive pr*ck again in the future......NOT if I can help it! I am so emotional at the moment it's really shocked me.......some sort of post traumatic shock disorder or something....not like me, not after 9 other eye op's. I want to sue, I want to ring his scrawny neck but you and I know I won't do either. What's the point because doctors always close ranks and if you have no evidence or there's not another person there to back me up then I'm scuppered. I itch to get back to my old consultant. Not only would I have had the op 15 months ago back in York I would have had considerate and good treament from those working there. I'm off for another lie down......I've hardly been vertical for days....if only I'd been in a beach side hut in the maldives with Jennifer Aniston....
-
Aye up David M. David hon, I feel so badly for you.....I really do! And yes...I so agree, the eyes are such a sensitive area and nothing, to fool around with for sure!! My little eposide was nothing really, but that's the point. It was just a scratch, but OMG the pain was incredible and lasted all day and impaired my vision whilst it lasted.
: Believe it or not, my brother was "fly fishing" one day and the line came back at him and the fish hook landed in his eye!!!...He actually came out of it eventually with no damage to his vision, so keep that in mind with regard to your healing process. The body has an amazing ability to heal itself doesn't it?? Never in a million years would I go back to the insensitive SOB that worked on you previously!!! Hopefully you can now go back to your previous consultant and he can take over from here....that would the best way!! Hopefully you can work something out. In the meantime, get your rest.....you heal best whilst sleeping. I'll post something just for you later that might help get your eyes refocusing again!!
-
Aye up David..... Sorry...I almost forgot this....HERE YOU GO!!! Don't strain those EYES too much!!!
-
Claudia611 Watching that it's not my eyes I'm worrying about straining......
Talk about causing blindness.....like I need any help at the mo.....
-
David, that all sounds horrendous. Hope you are feeling better now you are home.
-
lisalou7 I am home but restless. I am a crumbly old man of 50, born in a area renowned for it's MEN and beer and blue collar workforce.....steel, coal, iron, shipbuilding, industry etc We drink Newcastle Brown Ale out of rusty buckets....which puts hairs on your chest.....we go out in the coldest winters in string vests and sandals on our feet, trudging through snow up to our knees to tend to our pidgeons. We sit huddled together round our coal fires toasting teacakes and sipping sweet watery tea from a battered tin mug and bathing in an old tin bath in front of the fire. We are men hewn out of granite.........and I feel about six inches tall and want to weep like a blubbering baby.......it was THAT bad. I know I'm a man and we do tend to overdo, dramatise, every medical condition we have but the mouthy surgeon really has got me peeved. I think if they tell me this week that I'm alright for a month I'm going demand an apology there and then and whether I get one or not I'm gonna try and head back to my old consultant. Anyone who'd like this consultant to work on their knackered vision should contact me by PM and I'll forward your info on to him.....don't all rush at once now you hear.....
-
hey, get a room, you two
-
How do you know we're in a hotel room?......
-
David Darlin', I am totally horrified of what you had to go thru. The nerve of the rat b*sta*d to say such terrible things to you. Is there a patients rights office you can file a complaint at? That miserable scum sucking pig should lose his license. I want to weep for the inidignities you had to put up with. Take care of your eyes & make sure not to strain them. I'm going to toast you later on with a bottle of Dog FishHead Punkin Ale. And I didn't make the name up either. DogFishHead makes some unusual ales. I've had better pumpkin ales than theirs tho'.
-
GYPSYGIRL How are you this foggy morn?....
....that's not the weather that's foggy that just my BR_a-i....n!? I would love to take the mouth breather to court or get him reprimanded....but they seem to cover their tracks pretty well in the UK by losing the paperwork, and see to get away with it a lot of the time......heaven forbid anyone should ask or get suspicious about the lost forms....
: LIke I said on another thread he looked like Chuck's grey haired old grandad....the smiling assassin.......the GIT!! Tonight I'm going down on a badger.....
.......No. Badger Ale baby you saucebox....
......they have a very nice, large selection of ales, most of which will be passing my lips at some point tonight as I'm off the drugs.....YIP------CLUCKING-------EEEEE!!!.....
-
Ahhh, David. I'd like to kick their collective arses on your behalf. It ticls me off royally to see friends get the short end of the stick. Badger Ale, I'll have to look for that one! Tonite's pizza nite at the new pizzeria
Today, after I've done a few miscellaneous things round the house, is my day. I worked very hard for 5 hours yesterday, getting things re-organized, I deserve a "free day".
-
David...so sorry you had to go through all that.
Eye surgery with local is no picnic. Didn't I tell you about surgeons? Stay as far away as you can. My ex is a surgeon..nuff said. Hope you get the best results..that is what counts and take care.
-
mustangsally10 Howdy Musty baby......
....How are you sweetness? You're ex is a surgeon. He's not Irish by any chance is he? I'm guessing from your tone that he's not top of your Christmas card list, more top of your TO DO list come the day of the revolution......
I have been all over the place this week. The wife keeps giving me concerned looks, that's a first, normally she just tuts and raises her eyes to the ceiling.......neat trick if you can manage it.......they just about stretch......
I will try and be my usual self or with any luck be humorous and interesting sometime soon (that'll be a first!) when I've stopped falling over. Lord it's a bit much when I'm falling over and I'm stone cold sober....
: I am going to persuade her indoors to part with some of her money (no easy task as she's extremely tight) and take me and the pog to a curry house tonight. My tummy is rumbling no end.....
-
Pizza tonite! I should be working but don't feel like doing a blessed thing. I need a nudge to get some work done.
