We are having 4-5 calls a day where no one answers..it's a nuisance! I was just wondering if anyone here has had a problem with this and what you did to cure it.

I had phone calls that were less of a nuisance but more of a threat. People leaving threats on my phone line and I was even put on 3 or more way calling with people listening to my conversations and recording them without my permission. Ringing the phone off the hook all hours of the day and night. We had to change our phone number we had since 1978. Then we got an unlisted number and the same thing happened. So I now have no landline phone, I have a throw away cellphone. The police would not do anything, so I got a phone where I can change the number or throw away and get a new one. Really sucks.

Thanks Kittay..I have just been letting the answering mach. pick up. Hopefully whoever is doing this will get tired after awhile and just give up. I also though I'd scare them(callers) by leaving a message on the answering mach. like..this phone is being monitored for malicious calls..ect. Would this help? :

I would just ignore them. That is what I tried...but it did not work in my case. Although it might in yours. Good Luck!

Depending on how good your phone company is, you can also contact them and explain the situation. They could trace the calls for you, etc.

Do you have the number, or is it "restricted?"

The phone company did nothing for us. It was at&t. They said they are only a provider of a telephone/internet line, blah, blah, blah... You can contact the sheriff or FBI and get them to subpoena phone records for you. That's because I do not trust local police here. But the police can do it for you, if you trust them. :

I have caller ID and only answer those I recognize. If somebody really wants me, they can leave a message. I have been receiving a call from Unknown Name, Unknown Number at least once a day for several weeks now. I do not answer those calls. They leave no message.

I have had this link for a long time now and have shared it here and there. It is a site that will show you where the calls originated and also includes posts by people who have received calls from that number. They are more often bogus calls that should be ignored. http://800notes.com/ Just type the number into their search window. I don't answer either, especially the ones who don't leave a message. Unfortunately, a lot of people don't have caller ID. It should be standard on all phones. There should also be a website for unwanted emails.

Like I said, depending on how GOOD you phone company is. AT&T is not. I've got a local company that does my phone and internet, and they're excellent. They do this sort of thing for customers.

So...who's your phone company? It just may be one of those robo calls. I've run into a few that don't 'hear' you say hello until you get pi$$ed & say it louder. Then the recorded message kicks in.

Well At&t traces phone calls, but that is really useless. If you want a list of people who call you and vice versa, you have to have a subpoena in the USA. And you have to have law enforcement of some type get these records. Charter Communcations is the same way. Which phone compnay does not require a subpoena to get phone records?
