Paul McCartney 2013 Rumours
-
Every time Paul announced concerts in the US & UK I was happy for the fans over there and I was eager to learn more about those concerts. I did not complain that "he went to those places in 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, etc." It's not my fault that so far the only rumours about possible 2013 concerts are in Brazil. I'm just sharing the info that I've been able to find, but I must say that fans on this Forum seem very bitter with their negative remarks. Which is the same reaction I got in the "2012 Rumours" thread when I posted info about possible concerts in Latin America... which came true, in spite of all the complaning. Just let the man perform wherever he wants, folks. You can always call MPL Tours and complain that Paul should be performing in London, even though he got a lot of hostile reviews to his recent performances over there at the Golden Jubille and the Olympics opening ceremony. And if a group of family members and/or friends wants to go to Liverpool and London with a banner asking for concerts, good for them. Nobody has the right to tell them how or when they should spend their money. Just like nobody has the right to tell Paul that he "should" perform here or there and that he "owes" concerts to a certain country.

Where did all this come from? : All we said was, it seems silly for them to pay for a trip to London to ask for a concert when he plays there so much, they could just wait and go then AND see a concert! This has nothing to do with when he is playing when, and what rumors are for where, so it is off-topic to begin with.

Those hostile reviews were from the general public and not necessarily hardcore Macca fans. You can't honestly be suggesting that audiences in other countries don't appreciate Macca as much as you do, because that'd be rubbish. Also, I'm not intending to be offensive or bitter or anything. I'm merely pointing out something that isn't fair for many Macca fans that haven't had that opportunity to see Macca or haven't seen him for many, many years. Why would you object to fairness? Also, now I think about it, I don't think Paul has 100% say on exactly where he tours. His management must be involved in those decisions, too. Maybe they don't view Australia as worth going to because it wouldn't generate enough money or something, whereas SA is a massive dollar sign. You can't say it's purely just about where Paul fancies going, because there's always money involved in the decisions too. Think about it. If you were living in a country that Paul either never toured or hadn't toured in absolutely ages... and you're a very keen fan (obviously ) You'd be pretty upset if he and/or his management decided he should tour some places frequently and in many cases spoil them... but completely ignore your country. Or if you lived in a country where some concert dates were announced and suddenly cancelled/postponed... you'd want him to make up for it before he decides to go off and see his regular places, wouldn't you? Otherwise you'd feel ignored. Just saying, man. Chill.

All I know is that I'm doing my best to share any info I can find about possible concerts, and everytime I post someting I get a bunch of negative remarks. That gets annyoing after a while.

Yeah, I can see how it would be a bit obnoxious. It's unfortunate for you because some other South American members of the board have made some comments about how the US and UK audiences aren't as good as SA audiences, etc., and so I'm wondering if those comments haven't made a lot of us hostile towards any news about future SA shows. You've been good about keeping us posted on shows and about NOT telling us how superior the SA audience is to us, so I feel bad that you're getting flak.

Thanks. I never said a word in the other thread (2012 rumours) when people were arguing and calling names at each other, but there comes a time when I have to make a statement about the amount of negative replies I get just for sharing info. It's not my fault that, apart from South America, there are no concert rumours to report. If it were up to me, Paul would play in the US, UK, Australia, Venus and Mars.

Yeah, you KNOW I could start complaining how often NY gets him. Even book signings! We were a fly over state for a few years. So let's all just be happy that he may be going out again & hopefully it will be minty fresh for us all.
-
It's not flack. They're just observations people are making. I have nothing against anyone here and, to me, this is just a discussion and not an argument. I guess it's almost impossible to challenge someones post without it being confused as "giving someone flack." I'm just giving my empathy to places like Denmark and Australia. It'd just be nice to have those kind of fans satisfied too.

The US, in Illinois...Chicago. I do think he does NYC the most compared to anywhere.

I wasn't talking about you, or any individual, really. I'm with you on Denmark and Australia getting first dibs on any upcoming Paul shows, by the way. I can see where 5th Beatle is coming from, though. Look back at pretty much every post he's made in the rumors threads, and just about every response to his posts is: "Not again! What the heck?" with the rolling eyes, etc. I'm not happy that SA may be getting Paul again, but it's not like 5th Beatle's posts are causing Paul to tour in SA. Those SA posters who seem to take pleasure in insulting the US and UK audiences, well, they deserve every rolling eye they get.

Agree 100% Carlos. Those poor people in Denmark can fly to London and see him there. There are several countries/cities where Paul NEVER ever set foot on. Those should be priorities. And if in Brazil or wherever Paul can sell 60.000 tickets for a concert while in Europe it's less than half, then why should anyone complain about him going to Brazil?

I wish I had that power... or at least be able to actually meet him.

I wish I could afford going to a McCartney concert in Liverpool or somewhere else in Europe!

I've been to Chicago and I liked it a lot. In fact, I have fond memories of the city, that's where I met Sean Lennon when he performed live at Tower Records and then at a club, which I believe was called "Double Door".
-
Can't we all just get along? Why argue about where McCartney MIGHT perform? It is unlikely he will do a 2013 tour of Denmark/Australia. Denmark will get a show when a tour of norther Europe materializes. Forget about any stand alone Denmark shows after the last debacle with ticket sales. Australia? Maybe if there is a tour of Japan. Who really knows? Even the Brazil rumors are just rumors. It really means nothing until shows are officially announced. I remember reading in 2010 on maccareport that a New Mexico show was in the works, and then NOTHING. Did it suck? Yes. But no biggie. It HAPPENS. Sit back and enjoy the ride!

Yep...the city is very nice. If you stay in the right part. But I guess it's like that anywhere. I don't care for the city...rather be in the suburbs. But glad you enjoyed it. Did you have a deep dish pizza here?

I don't remember, but I was amazed by those trains up in the air. That always reminded me of the TV show "E.R.", and there was also the fountain from the sitcom "Married With Children".

I understand this. It's all cool. I just think the Danes and Aussies have more of a right to see Paul (because let's face it, Paul's touring days are numbered!) than anyone else. So I can't really blame people for reacting when they always hear about only a small amount of countries getting the Macca rumours. Maybe they don't mean to direct it at 5th Beatle personally. Maybe just more of an expression of frustration that the rumours are always the same. Macca should be shared around a little more and more countries should be given the opportunity to see him before he decides to stop. It's okay, Wallie. You know I love ya!

You don't understand Wallie, no one is insulting anyone, it's a cultural thing! http://www.tenfootsquare.com/top-ten-cultural-differences-about-argentina/ Political Correctness is Out the Window. Do not take anything you hear to heart. The Argentines are up front and say-it-like-it-is people. Plus, they are passionate. This sometimes makes for an awkward moment if comments are taken literally. For example thick or larger people are called Gordo/a, skinny people are called Flaco/a, ugly people are referred to as Feo/a, dark skinned people as Negro/a. Swearing is Not a No No. It is common to hear every type of person swear in different ways. From the sweet Grandma to the high society, mens club member, swearing is considered to be just another form of language and not vulgar. Of course, this is referring to the words of their language, vulgar words of other cultures are still considered as such. The Argentines are Passionate. The reason that the elderly, young and rich are fine with swearing is because passion lends itself to passionate words being said. The Argentine people are passionate about everything. Whether it is politics, their favorite football team or if it will snow soon, their opinion is a vibrant and energetic one. Their passion overflows into everything they do, which makes things such as seeing a music concert or football game that much more fun.

So...we shouldn't take this seriously either?
-
Correct if I'm wrong, but it sounds like he's saying we shouldn't take offense by what he says.... But I don't understand that when he's allowed to take offense by what we say. At the end of the day anyone's allowed to be offended by what someone says, regardless of where they're from. And making sweeping generalisations about anywhere... Argentina, USA or UK... isn't right. But, hey, let's get back to topic!
