Paul McCartney 2013 Rumours

Sorry about the duplicate post! Can someone please fix it?

Hopefully soon they'll say: "We've had enough talentless people on stage, let's get some talented musicians!" (Cue: P. McCartney, D. Grohl, R. Daltrey, E. Clapton, ETC)
They had Dave Grohl on stage with them a couple of weeks ago....

Maybe Mick and Co. said "We have enough old guys up here, let's get some young people on stage!"
Well that is certainly part of it - "Hey, we'll give you someone without wrinkles you can count for a few minutes!" I don't think it's any accident that Paul has youngish guys around him - definitely important to keep the WQ (wrinkle quotient) down as sadly people do become way too obsessed with it!
Certainly! I think it was a deliberate decision on McCartney's and his management to get younger musicians on stage with Paul. Granted, they are about in their fifties, but that is still fifteen to twenty years younger than McCartney.

Yeah, I don't see Paul McCartney guesting with the stones. I know they've had a lot of "special appearances" but none of them have been by artists of the same era or a higher touring caliber than they are. It's mostly popular newer artists...
\ Springsteen in December in Newark? John Fogerty and **TOM WAITS** from this leg of the tour?! Yes, they've had "the flavor of the month" join them on some shows this time out but on others, it's been some old "high calibre folks" indeed. Paul's friends with the Stones so it's not out of the realm of possibility. Just don't see it though with their respective tour schedules - which is unfortunate, because it would be a blast. Could easily see Macca ripping quite nicely on "Respectable" myself!
McCartney is coming down to Europe for 3 random gigs in the only period the Stones are doing hugely prestigious UK gigs, and possibly their most iconic gig ever at Glastonbury. Stones: America until late June, Glastonbury on 29 June, Hyde Park in early July, end of tour. McCartney: America until mid-June, Warsaw on June 22, Verona on June 25, Vienna on June 27, back to America in early July. Was it a coincide they booked the same rehearsal room back in April? (I personally do think so, since they won't have to rehearse any guest spot I have in mind for McCartney, haha). Also don't be surprised about the possibility of McCartney participating in the Meltdown Festival closer on 23 June 2013 in London, which celebrates Lennon's solo record 'Double Fantasy' with "very special guests". It all aligns up too suspiciously well.

Haha - I like Dave but it's true! But to be fair, he's living the R'n'R dream so when your idols ask you if you want to rehearse/do a number on stage with them, you're hardly going to say no! As well as he was absolutely smoking - did a rousing version of "B***h" with Mick & Co. and turned back the clock about 30 years!

yes, Katy Perry recently, and I heard that Taylor Swift joined them in Chicago the other night...
Double-bleh!
They're lowering their standards. I let it slide when Fergie and Gaga joined them on stage -- at least they have talent. However, Katy Perry and Taylor Swift can't sing live.

I'd be tremendously surprised if Paul takes part in Meltdown! I'll certainly keep my fingers crossed for anyone attending that show (and boy what a lineup Yoko put together for that entire festival) but I don't see it. Again, hoping I'm wrong! Unless it's already been discussed somewhere else, just out of curiosity what song(s) from that album would you hear him doing? As I'm going through it in my head, I could hear him doing quite a good version of Cleanup Time or possibly I'm Losing You...hmm!

'Beautiful Boy', no question about it. We all know how much he loves that song, and even suggested he might do a cover version one day. Sean Lennon is on stage, will be a huge emotional moment.

I know he loves the song but think it could be a bit iffy for him to perform...it's not really the easiest of songs for *anybody* to perform *well*. John brought something very special to that song and wrote it such that it was particularly well-suited his to his range and timbre. It's very similar to "Julia" in that - and I've never heard anyone cover that song well either. And to be honest, I think Sean being on stage would make it less likely that someone else will do it (because it would be so emotional?), than more likely. (For that reason, perhaps Sean himself will performing it?)

oh God I hope not. Nope...I doubt he would do it...never took part in her shows before.

Yes, they are all in it for the money. Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, Paul McCartney, Mick Jagger. Yup.

I love all the positive thoughts about Paul's festival appearances this month! Now can we cut the crap about the stones?...

Um, there's a thread already for Paul's festival appearances.
