Paul McCartney 2013 Rumours
-
RMartinez:
I hope McCartney plays Latin America in 2013, and will be glad when he does. The Beatles never played there, nor did Wings, but those bands played Europe and the USA plenty. Latin America deserves this attention from Paul. He obviously doesn't mind performing there.
Don't worry, if the name has the word AMERICA in it, he'll play there...

He plays South America because it's good for his business and even better for his ego. Look at the massive stadiums he plays and sells out in Mexico, South America is a big market! I think we decided long ago that Paul doesn't really care about being fair to his fans. He'd rather sell out a stadium playing his Beatles road show that a small arena playing solo stuff. Fair 'nuff it's his choice but he had nobody to blame but himself for his post-Beatles reputation at home.
He'd rather sell out a stadium Nice choice of words, but I'd change it slightly to he'd rather sell out.

It's because of the way he fobbed off Denmark and Australia that annnoys us. IF HE SAID, "I'M NOT GOING THERE" we could handle it. Instead he said, "the concerts have been POSTPONED." Get it?

Just to clarify my earlier comments, I didn't mean to criticise specifially that he might be returning to Mexico and South America. I was merely pointing out that he would rather bring the Beatles road show to territories that he can sell out, even if he has visited them recently. What I mean is that personally I would rather he stopped chasing the ego trip/money that selling out stadiums gives and he reworked his show so it had a bit more artistic integrity and he could prove that he is still a relevant artist. Even if it means resorting to playing arenas or smaller.

I actually said something similar a while back about playing smaller venues, so I do see your point. I apologize if I was heavy handed in my response. Really, I want to enjoy his concerts and tours, even if I cannot attend.

Guys-- Paul can play where he wants to play. We all need to take some deep breaths and relax. If Paul read what was being said from fan to fan, would he be happy? No. Not by a long shot. People are people, lets just remember the main reason everyone joined the board. They wanted to be happy and share things and knowledge with other Paul fans, like themselves. They shouldn't be scared to come on this board or feel like they can't. Again, Paul can play where he wants to play! Let's just be thankful that Paul still reaches out and performs. And he still can. So please, hopefully everyone will agree-- We all joined this board to be happy and talk about Paul related stuff. Not argue and bicker over the silliest things! Many fans travel to see him! So let's lay off all of the fighting and resume this happy, welcome place this board once was. This current behavior is disgusting and embarrassing. It is not attractive.

I have just been told that there was a meeting today about the concert in Belo Horizonte. Apparently they are discussing details regarding the stage, and they are also thinking of making the official announcement after Elton John's concert in the same stadium (March 9), to avoid hurting Elton's ticket sales. It makes sense, as a good business decision. Besides, Paul's concert tickets usually go on sale here 4 weeks before the show, which in this case would be around March 19. Based on that, it seems possible that the official announcement will be made around March 10-12 and tickets will go on sale no more than a week after that.

It is. He'd be stupid to not play there if he looks at his concerts as a business venture. I retain some hope, though, that he also cares about his fans, and I just hope that he plans to make up those canceled concerts sometime soon before getting back to playing the usual lucrative markets. Call me a dreamer...
Its a business we all know that we as fans are there to pay the bills, buy the merch and generally not annoy the security guards, the flip side of the coin is that Paul gives us usually a night that we wont forget easily that's the contract we enter into with artists when we see them live. Its a cynical view for sure but money as we know makes the world go round.

I'm not sure whether I have mentioned this, but there will be an important soccer match at the stadium in Belo Horizonte on April 24, so a concert there would have to be either on April 19 (and then taking the stage apart between April 20-23 for the game) or they could begin putting the stage together after the game (between April 25-28?), and then I guess it would be possible for Paul to perform in Fortaleza on April 27 and in Belo Horizonte on April 29. Anyway, I believe the concerts in South America will happen during one or two of the following three weekends: April 19-21 April 26-28 May 03-05
