The ..2012.... Political thread

Since our current president seems to have been elected by low-information voters, it seems like a good idea to bring forward as much factual information as possible so that we(not me-I voted Gore ) won't make the same mistake again. Here is Obamas Emergency Economic Plan delivered in an address today in Florida. http://www.scribd.com/doc/4385783/Barack-Obamas-Emergency-Economic-Plan
Factual Information: Carter already did a "windfall profit" tax on oil companies that failed miserably. Obama did not "create" this. Factual information: the majority of ExxonMobil shares are owned by mutual funds, 401(k), 403(b) and pension funds. They are prinicipally owned by the american public Disclosure: I am an "independent" voter and your buddy still needs us with only a 44% rating.

perhaps some clairification for balance?? the status of the health care system is the result of both the democrats & republicans; Deregulation is not due to the Bush administration but the Reagan administration in the 1980s; Part of the real estate issue belongs not only to the banks/mortgage companies but also to those individuals that borrowed more than they should have. Obama is not a reformer as alledged in the media....neither is McCain. The US government does not "create jobs" as such.... Clinton, as president, left the office with a surplus and worked with a republican congress (not a democrat congress). Currently the polls read: 44% for Obama and 44% for McCain...neither has a mandate. Bush didn't have one, neither did Clinton. As I said 20 pages ago , Obama will not get anything done even if elected as long as the senate doesn't have a super majority. btw, Germany doesn't have any electoral college votes
Read my post carefully please, 2 posts up I said the republicans not bush were the party of deregulation and privatization. You are right it started with Reagan and Bush just continued the policy, as would McSame, because that is what they believe. They have been in power long enough to have proven that their economic policies are a failure. Yes, Clinton had a republican congress, and bush has run the surplus into the ground. FDR created jobs and the new green economy will create jobs. Without regulation the mortage companys were predatory lenders. Preying on those who did not understand the impossible terms. They need to be regulated. Republicans have been trying to dismantle medicare as they do not believe govt. should be involved in health care.. The economy would be in much more dire straits if medicare and social security did not exist now. They are democratic programs. Obama would strenghen Medicare and social security and make sure there is universal health care-that is a democratic party goal. This is a 50 state election and the state polls show Obama with a very good electoral college lead. As someone posted above I believe Obamas main challedge is to get his supporters to vote I also would add to have the votes counted. Cheers

Obama is a Marxist. He's not gonna get elected. Furthermore, playing the race card may have went over well in front of the audiences he was pandering to, but he insulted many white Americans. And he did it over and over and people will remember it on election day. MS10, I'll give you another reason why Obama is too dumb to be president: Windfall Profits Tax. It's not gonna work and it's probably unconstitutional anyway. Exxon Mobil is a publicly held company. When Carter tried it the government lost money and our dependence on foreign oil went up. Just the thought of someone embracing a failed Carter policy is a sign that he's not qualified. Watch for him to borrow one of Jimmy Carter's sweaters. Carter could be his sec of energy. In the 70's there weren't 401k plans. Today most Americans have them so Obama will basically be taking taking money out of one of our pockets and putting it into the other. In the meantime ExxonMobil could very well relocate their corporation to a tax friendly country. That should be easy considering the US has the second highest corporate tax rate in the world. Exxon Mobil can lay off 100,000 workers and take 7,000 with them. There would be a bidding war from overseas countries to get Exxon Mobil. Should it happen he can pick the pockets of internet providers, or Walmart, or online music. Maybe a 50% federal tax on cell phones, hi def tv's, mp3 players, and computers. He can show the world how to tax a country into prosperity. He's been laughing at the Bush/McCain idea of drilling offshore. He must be totally unaware that in doing so he's laughing at 70% of Americans who favor offshore drilling. Obama is not ready for prime time. He was a US senator for less than five months when he started running. Prior to that he was a state senator and community organizer. In other words, he was a Boy Scout troop leader who didn't have to camp out. He lost an election for Congress and he won the state senate and the US senate because each of his opponents got caught up in a sex scandal. One was a divorce case, that was the US senate race, where the records were sealed by the court and somehow his divorce records got leaked to the media and it involved sex clubs, threesomes etc.. Obama never won an election based on his abilities. By being too afraid to do a town hall meeting with McCain shows he still has no abilities. He's a loser and a coward, and he's still a Marxist.

You are right it started with Reagan and Bush just continued the policy, as would McSame, because that is what they believe. They have been in power long enough to have proven that their economic policies are a failure. Ok, I guess I was confused on how Bush continued it....because as far as mortgage lending, subprime etc, that "deregulation" happened with Reagan. I suppose I'm from the school of regulations can't provide 100% protection from everything. Economics need to change as markets demand. Republicans aren't completely wrong....that's my point. Yes, Clinton had a republican congress, and bush has run the surplus into the ground. Agreed. My point was despite having republicans callling the shots, Clinton was able to use some of the things Pops (#41) enacted and enact some (not all) what he wanted......anyone who's read my posts knows I'm a hybrid....some republican, some democrat, a.k.a. independent. FDR created jobs and the new green economy will create jobs. Agree to some extent. Without regulation the mortage companys were predatory lenders. Preying on those who did not understand the impossible terms. They need to be regulated. Predatory lenders existed long before Bush & company came to town. I don't believe you can regulate unscrupulous people. Republicans have been trying to dismantle medicare as they do not believe govt. should be involved in health care.. The economy would be in much more dire straits if medicare and social security did not exist now. They are democratic programs. Obama would strenghen Medicare and social security and make sure there is universal health care-that is a democratic party goal. hmm.....not 100% sure about that. They were needed 70 years ago....we're living in very different times facing very different challenges (the rise of the rest). I do agree with you about universal health care...although that's not necessarily run completely by the government. This is a 50 state election and the state polls show Obama with a very good electoral college lead. So far...that's today. Long way to go (wink) As someone posted above I believe Obamas main challedge is to get his supporters to vote I also would add to have the votes counted. Cheers
Well I half agree.....the college kids in NH didn't get there for him in the primary and you're right, he'll need them. Good luck in registering....maybe you'll need more volunteer poll workers (wink)

SS, I don't care about his parents and his father never cared about him. He was a polygamist who abandoned him when he was two. My point is Obama is a racist against white people even though it was his white grandparents who raised him. Exxon Valdez was a tanker accident by a drunk. It has nothing to do with offshore drilling. Rigs in the Gulf of Mexico withstood Hurricane Katrina and Rita. Russia or China couldn't or wouldn't build anything that environmentally safe, and they wouldn't pay for a massive cleanup either if there's a disaster. They don't care about that stuff. Exxon is still paying for cleanup. How come liberals never complain about Saddam Hussein for dumping millions of barrels of oil into Persian Gulf while setting over 700 oil wells on fire? Also, if the Dems cared at all about the environment they would demand that we drill because offshore drilling by other countries is too dangerous. George Clooney is hosting a September fundraiser for Obama in Switzerland, yes Switzerland. That should all but end his candidacy. Now I know he's a recipient of affirmative action because no one with half a brain would do something so stupid. McCain is gonna have a field day with this and when he's elected he should publicly thank Clooney for sponsoring a fundraiser for Obama in a foreign country while telling him an audit by the F.E.C. is gonna be done because it's illegal to take donations from foreigners. I never knew Obama could be so dumb. The Dems who won't allow drilling are gonna be screwed in November. His advisers have to be a bunch of knuckle draggers. Berlin hurt Obama, Switzerland is gonna be the final nail in the coffin of his candidacy. At that time at least one of his racist mentors is gonna warn that cities across America will burn if Obama loses. Playing the race card is all Obama has. When he gives a speech it looks like he's watching a tennis. His head keeps turning left, right, left, right because he's reading the words of someone else on a teleprompter. When he speaks on his own his says ugh - ugh several times in each sentence. It's no wonder he's afraid to do a town hall meeting with McCain. If I was as dumb as Obama I wouldn't do one either.

Hey MikeMc..... Hadn't heard about the Switzerland thing. Just thought I point out that Americans do live overseas and do vote. If that is indeed supposed to be a fundraiser, seems to me that's where the money would come from. You'd be surprised at how many Americans vote even though they haven't lived here. I don't think McCain is that great on his feet either. But that's irrevelant for either candidate for me...not a big deal. I can understand Arhnold's position about drilling off of California and with some states along the east coast, though it seems to me now that even if we were to drill, that doesn't mean we necessarily keep the oil for our own purposes....it would be sold on the open market. By expanding supply that might lower prices but that would only occur in ten years. And if you were to drill along the east coast, you have to factor in that the east coast seems to be more affective by hurricanes than the gulf. I still agree with T. Boone though.....we can't simply drill out way out of the energy problem. btw, the Supreme Court recently ruled in favor of ExxonMobil about the Valdez spill, so they aren't paying as much.

And I suppose the Rightfully wrong wing counterparts would be Hitler/Gehring or Hitler/Limbaugh? In the last couple of weeks we have heard rightwrong wingers talk on the radio about torture and even torturing women as though it is some kind of "natural" thing! Pajama parties on the far left or Nazi death camps on the far right? How long would Republican gay bobs have survived around Gehring? Democracy is the word root of the word Democrat!

You have some nerve to keep on spweing foolish lie after foolish lie. There is nothing racist in Obama. Your problem is you believe that to be non-racist now days, one must go on as if racism is not existent and as if there have not been unspeakable horrors perpetuated by white people against black people in the US. Your position, to keep on denying racism, and to blindly accuse someone who points out racism as being racist is the racist position. You can keep your head in the sand because there are enough people like you to keep on making a noise amongst yourselves for you to never hear anything else, but I'll be every one of you really knows the truth about what you say and mean. You fool no one.

Obama is racist against white people....well, being Osama's brother, that makes a lot of sense! Good thing we found out before the election. You won't win, Osama's brother! You will not! McCain is white AND he is the inventor of freedom fries. Go McCain!
-
we all come from africa!.......the low level perceptions of some thee self consumed idiots that post on this board are absolutely beyond belief @ times!

I am fully supportive of MikeMc's views - he just happens to be a much better debator than I. Keep your eye on both Clinton's - their fight is not over. Neither of them want B. Obama to win to assure that Hillary can enter the next election race in 2011/12. They want McCain to win - to assure a shoe in on her part against McCain in the following election.

May be....although in democracy you vote on an issue. If what you say is true, how is it that democrats took off for five weeks without a vote on drilling? Doesn't sound like democracy to me.

Do you mean the conservatives are still sitting there waiting for the dems to come back? There was a lot more down time before the dems got the majority a couple of years ago. And maybe the energy situation hasn't been sorted out yet. I don't see where it has!

Peacetrain, I hope you can take it as good as you give it because you're gonna get it. You got some helluva goddamn nerve taking part of one sentence from a four paragraph post and posting it without any context and replying with personal attacks. But for someone who's morally and intellectually bankrupt it's the only way you can debate. Let me say it again for your ignorant eyes to see: Obama is racist against white people. Read some of his books. After his Kenyan dad ran off to go back to his first wife, YES, HE WAS A POLYGAMIST, you omitted all of that in my quote and you're too dumb to comprehend that anyone can go back a page and read it, Obama was eventually put into the hands of a radical black communist by the name of FRANK MARSHALL DAVIS. Obama's white grandparents, the only ones who took care of him, hooked him up with Davis to be a mentor while he was a young teenager. Davis was so much of a Stalinist that he opposed the US involvement in World War 2, but changed to a US supporter ONLY after Germany invaded Soviet Russia. That's why so many on the far left, probably yourself included, hate Hitler and often use Hitler as their only example of evil. They don't care about oppressive regimes that torture, murder, rape and commit genocide. Now their love for the oppression of Red China is gradually changing because millions of Chinese have moved up to middle class because Red China has embraced limited capitalism. But cheer up, millions of North Koreans are still tortured, murdered, jailed in real gulags, or starve to death every year. Frank Davis was a recruiter and racial agitator for the CPUSA and is mentioned in Obama's book, Dreams From my father. He was referred to as Frank. But when the race picks up steam after Labor Day the whole country will come to know the name Frank Davis. Let's not forget that he belonged to that sorry excuse for a church for over 20 years and considered "Rev Wright" to also be a mentor. A white politician would have his career ended the moment word got out that he belonged to a racist white church. Back to Obama and racism. He's been using the race card for a few months now saying "they will tell you I have a funny name, they will say oh, and did I tell you he's black". Of course he can't name any names because he's the racist, not his opposition. There is no "they". But that's probably more than you can comprehend. He said that stuff before a primarily black audience in Florida. He hosted a private fund raiser for rich San Francisco liberals. No cameras permitted. Someone used their cell phone camera and caught him bashing white blue collar workers from Pennsylvania. In other places he played the race card with words like -'he looks different' 'he doesn't look like those other presidents on the currency'. He can't, and you can't cite specific examples of his opposition attacking Obama because of the color of his skin. Even BILL CLINTON said they played the race card on him and planned long in advance to do so. He had their papers to prove it. I noticed that no one from the Obama campaign challenged Bill Clinton on that. I have no problem with Obama or anyone pointing out racism when it's true and relevant to the topic at hand. But Obama throws it into the mix because he knows he has no real accomplishments in his lifetime so far. Therefore, he has to play the race card because he knows the Republicans are chicken shit and run and hide when the race card is played against them. Sadly for Obama, this is the first time Republicans aren't hiding under the table when attacked. It's about time. If Obama applied a for a real job as a top executive any prospective employer would laugh at his resume and if Obama was lucky he would get offered an entry level junior executive position. On the other hand, he could probably get a job as a "college professor" to teach radical left wing hatred to impressionable young students. That's probably how they got to you. The biggest horror perpetuated by whites in America since slavery has been Lyndon Johnson's Great Society. A multi trillion dollar debacle that has left blacks far worse off than they ever were in the 20th century. Prior to 1965 out of wedlock births among blacks was 25%. Now it's around 70%. Obama was part of the 25%. Remember, his father wasn't legally married to his mother when Obama was born because his birth father already had a wife in Kenya. The Democrats think they can solve all problems by throwing money at them. What "money only" does is make matters worse. As long as blacks are primarily registered as Democrats that's all the Dems care about. Keeping people near poverty is what Democrats do best, and they don't do it by accident. They know that when they raise taxes on the rich it's the poor that gets hurt the most. It's always been that way.
